Updating LineageOS 16.0 for microG via TWRP + feature test

Sorry, I don’t notice that, cause I don’t use such apps.

Update Installed via custom TWRP 3.2.3 … although currently no luck with encryption.
TWRP 3.3.1-0 (Releases) seems to have trouble with encryption in general.

  • lineage-16.0-20191119-microG-FP2.zip (Changelog)
    • Security patch level:
up to date (Settings - Security & location - Trust)
5 November 2019 (Settings - About phone - tap on Android version)
    • Vendor security patch level:
out of date (Settings - Security & location - Trust)
1 April 2018 (Settings - About phone - tap on Android version)

The following things work for me so far:

  • call / be called
  • send SMS / receive SMS
  • internet via WiFi
  • internet via mobile network
  • location
  • compass
  • screenshot
  • main camera (new module) works correctly with Open Camera, stock camera App not checked, didn’t operate the flash correctly last time I checked.
  • main camera (new module) video recording
  • selfie camera (new module)
  • selfie camera (new module) video recording with stock camera App not checked, worked correctly last time I checked, Open Camera records only black if surrounding light is too dark or changes into too dark while you move.
  • USB connection to PC / MTP
  • alarm (no alarm sounding with volume set too low.)
  • MyPhoneExplorer 1.8.12
  • Root access (Settings - System - Advanced - Developer options - Root access)
  • USB OTG
  • WiFi hotspot
  • Bluetooth (data connection, music playback … music pairing survived the update, I changed the device to transfer data with, so I had to pair anew)
  • FM radio
  • weather (OpenWeatherProvider with my own OpenWeatherMap API Key … connection to the service seems very unreliable lately)

Is there any new/updated drivers in the last version of FPOS/OpenOS? (19.11.02)

At least not when it was still beta … “There are no changes on the modem part.”

I was guessing that this could come with the modem.zip

“For fixing WiFi we mostly changed the kernel, plus some configuration that lives in the system partition. LineageOS might take over WiFi fixes from us, but this could require some bigger changes (since there are quite a few differences between the kernel we use and the LineageOS kernel).”

Thank you for the info
I don’t have access to this topic as I’m not part of the beta program

Does anybody have any experience with Magisk instead of the LOS su? (OS: LineageOS 16.0 for microG)

Update Installed via TWRP 3.3.1-1 (Releases / FP2 Downloads) … I’ve pretty much given up on TWRP support for Android 8/9 encryption on the Fairphone 2 now.

Hey people!
I dont know if that is the right thread for my question but ill try:
Has anyone here successfully enabled Private DNS (DNS over TLS) option at network settings? I tried it a few times with different DNS servers, but always get the notification “Couldn’t connect”.
Thanks in advance for your answers. :slightly_smiling_face:

For me it work with the DNS server from Digitale Gesellschaft.
I sometimes also get Could not Connect but in my experience it was usually related to the Wifi connection.

May be help you…

InviZible Pro

I have not testet !

I’ve found the solution. The problem was that i didnt granted “(Root) - Apps mit Root-Rechten” access to the internet at afwall firewall. Now DNS over TLS works fine for me.
@nohwann: iam not a friend of installing additional apps for functions that are already included in os. But thanks.

Hello everyone!
I have one question… I am on Linage 16, and I am reluctant to upgrade to 17 at the moment, but I am not receiving updates of the 16 anymore. I only see the OTA for lineage 17. Is that normal? is there a way to get updates for the 16?
Any help and clarification would be greatly appreciated

Yes.
LineageOS only supports one version at a time with updates, and this is 17.1 now on the Fairphone 2.

At least not conveniently.
(Before I say “No.” and somebody rightfully points out that you could build your own LineageOS 16.0 and backport security patches to your own build yourself  .)
