We’d like to share an update regarding the recent Android 15 release for Fairphone 4.
First, a big thank you to those of you who reached out and shared your feedback. Our team has been working around the clock to investigate the recent reports, and through that data, we have identified the probable source of the issues. This is a significant step forward that allows us to move into the next phase of our fix!
We have now transitioned into the development stage and are preparing a new software release. This is designed to resolve the issues that a few users experienced with version FP4.QREL.15.15.2, while also addressing other feedback we’ve received since the upgrade to Android 15.
A small number of devices are currently running FP4.QREL.15.15.2 with the November 2025 security update. Until this next update is released, this group will temporarily remain on an older security patch level. We want to be transparent that because of this, some apps with strict security requirements may not function as expected after February 5th. We are proactively sharing this now so that affected users can take any necessary preventive measures and are working to close this gap as quickly as possible.
If you experience any other issues with your device, please reach out through the Repair Portal as usual, where you can find guidance and next steps tailored to your specific model.
Our priority is to ensure this next update is as stable and complete as possible so you can continue to enjoy your Fairphone 4 for years to come. We will keep you informed as we move closer to the release date.
Hi @KurtF this topic was addressing all Fairphone 4 users on Android 15. For Orange France & Belgium users on Android 13, we’ll share some good news tomorrow!
Well, you could had talked about it in the initial thread, after all Orange-tied FP4s belong in your “Current device status” list too (I think)…
When I asked my question your thread was already 2 hours old, so I was under the (I think justified) impression you (Fairphone) had nothing more to say. Oh well.
Hi @Fairphone_CM Thanks for the update! What timeline are we talking about here for an Android OS security patch level update for those on FP4.QREL.15.15.2? In the meantime my corporate apps started to ask me to do a security update to >= December 2026. Soon it will block me completely…. Do you provide temporary devices or do I really have to buy a new phone now?
i’m on 15.15.2 with a phone that was rebooting frequently (daily) in Dec/Jan, then somehow with a few tweaks managed to live for up to a week, and now has been rebooting again more frequently. i would very much appreciate if you could be more transparent about the ‘probable source of the issues’ or just release a fix without further delay. thanks
If worst comes to worst, and if these are corporate apps (supposedly connected to your work), can’t you ask your employer to provide you with a phone? Or am I misinterpreting your comment?
