Software Update: FP4.QREL.15.15.2

There is a new update on the FP4. But I don’t see any update on official releases: https://support.fairphone.com/hc/en-us/articles/4405858220945-Fairphone-4-Release-Notes.

So has anyone tried it already and confirm it doesn’t introduces new bugs?

Hi,

Strange thing: when I looked for the update yesterday evening in the System dialogue it was available. I decided to postpone it until today. But now it is not shown anymore.

Greets Robert

Was it done automatically in the nicht by any chance?

No, as far as I can see. The Build Nr is still FP4.QREL.15.14.3

My phone appears to be bricked now!

I’ve downloaded yesterday before going to bed, this morning I’ve rebooted it and it looks completely dead now.

To be noted that I’ve rebooted it by pressing the physical button, not by clicking on the update screen, because this morning it was not there anymore and I couldn’t make it appear anymore from the System Update page.

I’ve tried with a number of things (removing battery, charging it, different button combinations, etc) but it doesn’t react in any way.

Can anyone please help?

If it still charges (charging screen is shown), you can give this another try:

I am in the same boat at dcaravana and I’m afraid the phone is just a brick at the minute, it doesn’t react to being plugged in to charge so this reboot option isn’t an option.

Is there anything else that can be tried to bring it back to life?

No charging screen is shown.

What can I try next?

I’m a software developer, so I’ve connected it to my Mac but of course it doesn’t show up in adb devices list.

It does appear as a USB device though, as Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM.

Any advice please?

Thanks very much in advance, for me this is a huge issue (I do so many things with my phone, both work- and life-related).

Also quite complicated to get support over the festive period, and I’ve also got an eSim…

Huge mess indeed!

Just submitted a ticket to Fairphone, in case the problem is with the update and not with the devices themselves, so they can stop distributing it.

Could you please specify your setup:

E.g. 1 or 2 sim

One personal Profile or a second work profile activated on the phone.

Are there actually experiences with the a15 fp4 android-15 update while having two active sim (esim+physical) *and* also two android profiles (work + personal)?

Thanks :folded_hands:t4:

My setup:

  • 2 SIMs: 1 eSim + 1 physical
  • 2 profiles: 1 personal + 1 work

It might be it was recalled, as it was not intended to roll out yesterday to the public.

I somehow doubt a bit the update is the reason for a complete death… Are you sure its charged and did not just drain battery over night? So did you try to charge a few hours and not try to start it.

Edit: seems I need to stand corrected 4 dead batteries would be a rather unbelievable coincidence.

Same setup, same situation. Phone bricked once rebooted after doing the update. No charging screen, nothing, removed SIM & battery to no avail.

Opened a ticket with FP support. Such a lesson - the update description claimed to fix an issue i was having, so i broke my personal rule of waiting a couple of weeks before installing :person_facepalming:

did you also had the night inbetween download and brick?

I installed the update (1 physical SIM without issues).

I installed the latest Fairphone 4 update this morning because it said it would fixed a problem I had the last couple of weeks (phone restarting without notice). Update downloaded, installed, then I wanted to just restart my phone and nothing, dead. Battery was 3/4 charged. It is not going on with any of the buttons (power and volume up or down). It is not connecting to a computer anymore either. I doubt it is just the battery that decided to die as it was perfectly fine and it happed right after the update (EDIT: I’ve tested the battery with a volt meter and it is perfectly fine). Anyone else have this or know how I might solve the problem (if at all). Thanks!

Can you answer this?

@Fairphone_CM this needs urgent attention I think.
