Camera won't take photos due to lack of space

I’ve been getting this warning for seven months now. I’ve tried deleting old photos, but still the space warning remains. That said, I am able to take photos to attach to messages within WhatsApp or Outlook.

Hello

would you care to share the following?

  • how much free storage is there currently on your phone?
  • do you use the SD card and how is it formatted (as an internal or portable storage)?
  • what are your current settings of the pictures quality? How big are the usual pictures you manage to take with your camera app (not WhatsApp app)?

Have you tried clearing the app data and cache? (You can do this from the “apps” menu in your phone settings; this will delete the settings you have selected in the camera app)

Within the camera app, there is an option in the “System” sub-section that restores the settings to their default values. It may be worth trying.

If none of that works, as an “alternative,” you can find other camera apps in the Google Play store. Open Camera (also in F-Droid) is quite popular here.

Good luck :four_leaf_clover:

I know this message. I think that is a bug and comes when internal storage is low, even though you may have selected the external SD storage in the camera app. Move photos and videos manually to the SD, delete app cache, uninstall apps you don’t need, to free up internal space.

Deleting the cache hasn’t made any difference. What’s the SD card?

If there’s an update coming and the storage fills, photos would be the least of your troubles. I recommend you do a backup yesterday.

With a cable connected to the computer, in USB mode “File transfer”, please do transfer all your photos. When they are safely in the computer, you may delete them on your phone to make space.
For individual apps, it might depend on the app : you have to export data in the settings, or copy the whole directory in Android/data
