Sudden slow response

That works. Thank you very much.

For some time now, the image composition on the display-screen seems to be slowing down. At first, I thought it was a deliberate measure in the wake of an update, but the slow-down seems to be increasing. Is it just my phone or a common phenomenon?

Hi and welcome to the forum, I moved your post, please see above

Cheers!
The advice worked a treat and solved the problem. Many thanks!

After the last Security Update, the screen delays again. Not so much, but not nice. Settings was still at rate 1 x. I’ve set down now to 0,5 x and it works. But if i take off the developer options after turning the rate, it will get back to 1 x. Any ideas please? There is no hint to save the settings.

Yesterday it happened to me. I set Animations Long ago to 0.5, suddenly it was “skos” and Set to 2.
After Set to 0.5 everything was fine again. Strange

I disabled animations (settings → accessability → colors and animations → disable animations (or something like that - translating roughly from german) on my FP4 when I got it.

Yesterday, to my horror they were back - so I disabled them again.
Today? Animations were back. I tested, and seems the setting gets reset every time I lock and unlock my phone!

Is this a known bug? Is there anything I can do to prevent it from happening? I don’t want to have to re-disable them every time I use my phone…

(Android is on version 13, security patch from july 5th 2024.
build number is FP4.TP2I.C.0121.20240626 )

Hi and welcome yes it thus I moved your post here, so see above

I checked the developer settings, my animation speed factor is 1x (as it should be, it seems?) - but I guess it does sound related.

So I suppose now that I’ve submitted a report on the fairphone website (and god is that not user friendly! I bought on amazon, that’s not even an option to select for “where did you buy your phone”…) all I can do is wait and hope a new build that fixes the bug will come soon?

That does not make me a happy customer.

Oh, actually - setting the animation speed factor to “animations off” in the developer options seems to last longer than regular “disable animations”. Though from what others are posting, seems that won’t last forever either… but at least better than having to re-disable EVERY unlock.

Dont get the amazon part? You can select “reseller” and attach an invoice, so where are you asked to select the actual reseller?

Is it a reseller though if it’s listed as “sold by: Fairphone”?

I’m buying on amazon, but from Fairphone… at least to me that does not sound like a “reseller”, which would be someone who bought from Fairphone and then re-sells it?

Ok, still: why/where do you need to indicate where the order was placed? When you bought from FP directly you have a webshop number you can (no must it seems) enter in the support form, if not, you can attach the invoice.

I’m not sure what counts as “invoice” when buying via amazon. All I have (I think) are the e-mails confirmung my purchase and then confirming it has been shipped (which from the wording of those e-mails seems to be the contract coming into effect?).

Am I supposed to download the e-mail and upload that? Or take a screenshot?

Anyway, when I tried sending via that form, I was told (AFTER I filled everything out) that I would be helped faster via the “Find & fix an Issue Yourself” wizard - so I used that, and it did NOT ask me “where did you buy your phone”. All that, after I messed around with the first form and tried to get a “right” answer to that annoying question.

So yeah, not very user friendly.

(but I’d still appreciate, in case I or someone else needs it in the future, an answer to “what counts as invoice to attach when one bought from Fairphone via amazon”)

this can only be answered by Fairphone

Hey guys, since the last software update my FP4 is responding awfully slow. Apps open like they are on slow motion and some apps perform that way too. Does anyone know why this happens and what will fix it? Help appreciated.

Hello, I am experiencing the previously documented problem of very slow animations in the launcher and other parts of the ui, appearing since a software update earlier this summer. I reset the animation duration to 0.5x, as suggested, and was happy. It keeps changing back to 2x, however, which is annoying. Is there a permanent fix?
Thanks

I like to turn off animations using the “Remove animations” option. However I notice this setting keeps sporadically resetting every few days or so, meaning I have to go turn it off again. Anybody else run into this?
