After the update, I got a notification with “Issue with SD card. Tap to fix”. In the storage settings, it shows “this sd card is corrupted. To use this SD card, you have to set it up first”.
I have good backups of everything, so not much of a loss(for me), but I’m curious if someone else had the same issue.
I can’t tell if it’s placebo, or I’m having a good day or something. But my phone just feels smooooooth after this update. Not perfect stutter-free smooth. But there seem to be muuuuuch less microstutters when scrolling discord, or switching apps. Things just slide in an out, collapse and expand without a hitch. Literally.
Oh also, flipping audio channels when rotating the phone is a great quality of life thing.
And while I never close all apps, I appreciate the button no longer being on the far left.
Did you try rebooting without choosing any of these options? On my FP2 I was often able to avoid formatting that way and regain access to the SD card’s contents.
The update didn’t break anything else, that’s great! But are the brightness issues going to get fixed anytime soon? And what about the stock launcher? It still overlaps the native Google At a Glance widget with a search bar. That bug is a few years old now. The brightness issues were eventually kind of under control in Android 13, but in Android 14 things are back to being buggy. Brightness that doesn’t go to 0% in a dark environment, light sensor that still fights with itself. And with DC Dimming on it’s even worse.
not sure if this is what helped me, but wit latest (and i think also with previous) update i press Reboot (after install to inactive slot) in System Update window, not in Magisk…
Yes, it was made available 1-2 hours after my post, but forgot to say anything here after I noticed and updated my phone.
I believe I did try pressing the update button in the OTA updater in the past, but I’m not sure. I’ll keep that in mind for future reference and maybe drop an update in How to root the FP5 and OTA update - at your own risk about that.
Hi, do you mean the several tries until one succeeds updating? I have understood before that the last update has fixed this behaviour so it should work properly with this update already, but it does not. Anyhow, I have tried already for ~20 times and it didn’t work out. It’s pretty frustrating this way.
The screen was a bit, really just a tiny bit unresponsive compared to my old xpreia 5 but after the latest update it no longer stops responding when I touch the screen with multiple fingers at once and maybe a bit lower response rate
Ay! Thats good to hear. Never thought they’d do something about this, the ticket got closed and the forum thread went idle. Good to see they worked on it, kudos FP
For last update the recommendation in the update thread in this forum was to try it multiple times and after the 5th retry or so it might work out. This was the case for the last update for me as well (maybe the hint with developer mode was added later?), but for this release nothing worked out, not even 30 times of retry. But the developer mode workaround actually works for me too.
Can I just say I really appreciate the moving of the “clear all” button to the bottom in recents. Having it all the way over on the left was a minor but persistent annoyance!
It would be nice if Fairphone could look into the issue Meaghan mentioned about the wallet shortcut appearing on the lock screen when it shouldn’t. It would also be nice to be able to add a camera shortcut, either there or in quick access.
