In Android 13 there was an issue with the brightness flickering when it was dark, that got fixed after a while.
Now with the update to Android 14, there’s a new issue with the auto brightness:
No matter how dark it is, the minimum screen brightness is at around 20%, for me it’s 17%.
I may turn off the auto brightness and set the brightness to the lowest setting, that works… But that’s kinda the idea of using the auto brightness
Screenshot attached, screenshot was made in complete darkness.
I get the idea that the auto brightness got worse again since the Android 14 update. I don’t have DC Dimming enabled. In dark environments it keeps the brightness at about ~15% or 20% and it doesn’t learn based on user input. It was usable in the last few months of the Android 13 version. Now it seems back to the old habit of burning your eyes at random and not going to 0% brightness when it’s dark.
Unfortunately this only worked for about 2 days for me. Anyone else with a better success story? Even when using Extra Dim it remains very bright in a dark room.
Is anyone able to communicate this issue to FP support? I’m stuck in a loop. I explained the whole issue. Then they ask the build number a month later, then after I provided it they say it was fixed in the latest update. It wasn’t of course. And repeat. Now support says it was already fixed in the past, yeah, in Android 13, as I already mentioned to them, but this is a regression in Android 14, as I did mention to them. Now they ask the build number again…
@Zeratoxx can you mark this topic as not-solved? The fix is just temporary.
@UPPERCASE I had the same experience with support , I was asked to send my build number four times… At that point I was tired of dealing with the support.
The topic should still be marked as “not-solved” as far as I see
Is this only a problem with auto/adaptive brightness? Is it possible to fix the brightness manually with the auto brightness off? I am thinking about buying a FP5. That’s why I ask.
