Animation speed just changed for me again yesterday, almost exactly one month after the first time. This time it wasn’t over night but in the late evening around 22:00 UK time. I noticed it when setting the alarm, but think that it probably was a coincidence.

I am still using Nova Launcher, it didn’t get an update since May, so don’t see how it would be connected. Many other apps got updated yesterday, including several Google ones, but none of the apps that got updated last time.

I find it interesting that it is almost one month, let’s see if it happens again around 12th Aug.

This is an outlier that could be caused by some other app though. The launcher theory is compelling. For the record, on stock launcher, my animator speed has stayed at 0.5 since before the update.

There are more then this one example I linked above

And while 1 reports it reverts after a month others say its happening more frequently.
Also this has more effects as reported here

So everyone experiencing this should report to support.

Hi, after almost two months no update, still stuck on March 2024 security update.
I tried both Swisscom and Fairphone support but I couldn’t yet get ahold of somebody…only LLMs or automatic emails to FAQ. Tickets are still open so hopefully somebody could tell us why Swisscom is blocking the update.

Really, really annoying. And more annoying that is not easy to see what’s going on and what’s the issue.

for Fairphone support: did you contact them via online chat?

My Fairphone skipped this update, today I was able to update directly to Software update: FP4 A.13 SMR7 FP4.TP2I.C.0121.20240626

Yes I got c.0121 as well! So they skipped the Update, and I got zero communication on why. But all is good now.

Sorry for the late response. Yes, within my webbrowser. I was playing a game and the animations were very slow, so slow that my game opponent thought I was absent instead of activetly playing. It’s a fast paced game, to be fair.

Animations were back to normal, once I changed the rate back to 1x.

ad 1: The default launcher, didn’t change that
ad 2: Never touched these settings before
ad 3: 2x

Btw, I got a random reset again twice or three times recently, after having no problems at all for a long while. I could not report, as I was not able to reach the forum in the US.

NB: this was before the recent update to C.0121

With C.0121 it also happened to me again, but only once and after resetting the config it works fine

Now that’s surprising. I would had expected that the web browser’s rendering engine would be totally independent, and unaffected by any Android GUI settings (which those “animation speed” settings are, after all). Apparently not. -scratches head-

Anyway, the most interesting thing is that you haven’t changed your launcher. So it’s not (specifically) launcher-dependent.

It just happened to me again yesterday during the day, the third time now I had to reset the animation speed. This time it wasn’t a month but about two weeks past the previous time. There were no app updates of apps that were updated the previous times, don’t think it has anything to do with app updates. It also slows down my webbrowser, I use Firefox Mobile.

I also use the Firefox webbrowser, where it slowed down my animation speed… just fyi

I, too, have the animation factor problem: a few days, or maybe about a week or so after receiving the C.0121 update, the system animations (and also at least some Firefox animations) suddenly became extremely slow. And indee, the three animation factors had all been set to 2. I manually reset them to 1 a few days aga, and until now, it’s holding out. I’m using the default launcher.

I have the same problem. However, after a few days it resets itself to a factor of 2 for some reason.

Thank you so much for this! I thought I was going to have to live without any animations from now on but this saved my ass.

Thanks, the Fairphone community support is superb.
