I seem to have fixed the problem by 1) factory resetting the phone, not restoring it from any kind of backup or from another phone, then 2) using (in my case) Octopi Launcher and setting the Wallpaper from in there. Prior to doing this, even when using the Octopi Launcher it kept crashing back to the default blue wallpaper. No other formula than the above fixed it for me - and I have tried 100 routes and methods! (I previously thought I’d fixed it (see above) but hadn’t.)
I take that back - even having gone through all that hassle, it’s still doing it. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Isn’t there enough noise here about this for Fairphone to fix it?!
Every time when I try to set a photo as a background photo (no matter if on lockscreen or the desktop), it appears only for few minutes (sometimes seconds) and disappears. It is maybe harder when there is no actual software app for photos so I use the app “Camera”. Do you have any solution?
Best is to use
Settings > Wallpaper and style > Change wallpaper
Set the wp for Lock screen and then set it for Home screen (separately).
What about the Photos app ?? Or, if you prefer, some other gallery app such as org.fossify.gallery available from F-droid.
using 2 separate images (copies of the same in my case) does seem stable.
but it is still a f***ing workaround, not the solution (the forum sw says the issue has been solved)
I have amended my post, which offered a work-around, not news of a bug correction.
The OP has marked their post #3 as a solution, which it certainly is not, though it does say that my proposed work-around had the desired effect.
thanks for clarifying
@jazzlife this helps, but is a workaround, not a real solution (sorry yes, I’m an engineer). is FF support aware of this problem?
hello
it looks it has been addressed in today’s update
Did you report it to FP? And beside the fact that workarounds can be marked as solution so its easy to find for everyone, everone can decide to mark anything as solution if they are happy with that solution.
Well spotted - thanks. Applying the update now ![]()
It seems to have survived the first reboot with the exact same wallpaper, not shifted right either so yay! Kudos for listening to users FP and fixing this.
I knew it was “only” a workaround, but I was satisfied with the solution at the time. That’s what I communicated back then – no more, no less. I didn’t inform Fairphone about it. However, other forum members seem to have reported the problem to Fairphone, otherwise yesterday’s update wouldn’t have fixed it. Incidentally, it now works for me without the workaround, but I also switched to SmartLauncher a few days ago.
Unfortunately no OTA available for German Telekom Mobile Provider. Latest update for my FP5 is FP5.VT2F.C.065.20251016.
Sit and wait.
@Meaghan, it persists:
I confirmed with com.ss.android.ugc.aweme.livewallpaper.ui.LocalLiveWallPaperActivity, which was unset ⋛ PT3M after application.
My Environment
Today the most current update FP5.VT2K.C.076.20251222 has been uploaded and is available. Installation went smooth without any problems so far.
One day later my Niagara Theme remains unchanged; looks good to me.
