Well, it is just a configuration that can easily be done by yourself. Besides cleaning the memory of the NXTVision you should also have a look at the display settings for adaptive colors and switch the advanced settings of if they are active.
On my FP4, NXTVISION (Display Enhancement) seems to be responsible for its random reboots: 10 days with it disabled and no reboots!
Good morning everyone. Until now nothing works for my phone ….. it just restarted 2x one after another.
Actually I’m very curious what FP says about this and what they are tempting to do about this issue. Which is a big one …
And you already disabled nxtvision, right?
Yes, could you please elaborate what you mean by “nothing”?
We need to find a way to keep using our phones till Fairphone eventually manage to do something about this issue, so information is precious: Did you try setting NXTVision to “Natural” (in “Display/Visual Enhancement”) and clear its cache and all data in “Apps/See all apps/3 points menu on top right: “show system”/scroll down to NXTVISION/Storage and Cache/Clear storage, Clear Cache/back arrow and Force Stop NXTVISION”? Did you restart after doing it?
This is not busywork, we’re trying to pinpoint a temporary solution because chances are Fairphone’s fix won’t come quickly (though I hope I’m wrong), it took them a month to release a patch for their current flagship’s A15 reboots, so quaint old FP4’s users need to find how to weather the storm till something happens (and maybe beyond that).
It would be great if two minutes faffing about in the “System” menu could yield a fully functioning phone, especially for those who for some reason can’t afford to randomly go offline…
I mean I did everything that was suggested. Disabling NXT…. does not stay when I reopen It is working again.
Yes. But it enables itself automatically
Did you try setting NXTVision to “Natural” (in “Display/Visual Enhancement”). this I don’t see in the possibilities. The rest I did Well see
That’s normal, it needs to run for your phone to work. The point was just to restart it.
That’s the most important thing actually, even if you only have a 33.3% chance to have the wrong setting:
Go to Settings > Display > Visual Enhancement, and there you’ll see (in the middle) “Screen Color” with 3 choices: Vivid, Natural, and Advanced. Apparently the dangerous choice is “Advanced”. “Vivid” and “Natural” should be safe - as far as I know.
The whole “clearing the cache” thing should (AFAIK) be done after switching Screen Color to something other than “Advanced”.
If you already were on something else than “Advanced”, then I don’t know…
I’m just relaying information read here on this forum…
Cleaning cache, data and stopping NXTVision 3 days ago.
Visual Enhancement, “Screen Color” was already set to vivid. Both vivid and natural are working for me.
No newstart since then, before there were 2..3 starts every morning.
Installed october security update yesterday (newstart at 23%, but afterwards it was installed completely).
Many thanks to all!
Three days later and no reboots. This has worked for me!
Good for you! This doesn’t apply to me, unfortunately.
This seems to have worked for me!
(Visual enhancement is and always was “vivid”, FWIW)
Thank you! ![]()
The Tipp Reboots after A15 upgrade - #65 by Sandkasten, but not for you?
No unfortunately not. I don’t know what to do anymore.
Hello,
Did not fix the reboot problem for me.
Did you check this, too? I guess this is as important as clearing the storage of the NXTVision app.
I made a factory reset. That cleared my reboot-problem. But I had to install and configure all my apps on the phone again - that was not funny.
Hello, yes I did.
Brillant is my setting. I changed to natural in order to check.
Currently 148:22 hours of uptime, no reboots so far.
