I did a factory reset a while back and it definitely fixed the issue for me, it never rebooted by itself since.
I can understand your point on it being not a preferred solution, though.
Side note: it feels like my battery usage has improved quite a bit, which is a plus.

Since you’ve done it recently, can you remind me what kind of things I’ll need to manually reset after a factory reset? The main annoying thing I find is having to manually reset which SIM my phone uses for which contacts.

Excellent! And could please all people who tried the NXTVision trick post their results after a few days (if it worked or not)? So we know if we have here a definitive solution or it was just a coincidence?

The option in the image enhancements that caused me to restart is “Color Mode and Temperature - Advanced - sRGB - Adaptive Tone.” With ‘Natural’ instead of “Advanced,” I had no reboots.
P.S. I do not know the exact naming for the options as my UI is in German.
Just as info: Reboots are most likely caused by the image optimization settings and NXTVision. @Fairphone_CM please forward that info to the devs so they can provide a fix for that.
While that seems true as of today, '“most likely” are still the key words here. We should first ascertain that it’s indeed the main cause of those reboots before celebrating.
(BTW, for those who might be looking for it, here is the suggested workaround for the “NXTVision Reboot” bug.)
Even if it is “most likely” at least it is an option to test and possibly make the phone work again. And that is thanks to the community findings

So I mentioned a while back that I factory reset my phone and the reboot issue was resolved for me.
I got curious and went into the display settings to enable adaptive tone. I now too get the NXTVision crashes and my phone is now rebooting again, lol. Seems like we definitely found the problem.
The workaround by Sandkasten fixes the issue because deleting storage resets the display settings so that Adaptive Tone is disabled again. Steps 4 and 5 are not required.
Long story short, if you go Settings > Display > Visual Enhancement and the settings app crashes or the phone reboots, apply the workaround steps 1-3 as described by Sandkasten.
If you then go to the same settings screen and you can just see the settings window as normal, the issue is very likely resolved for you.
Thanks all for the great analysis. I’ve replicated the problem on my phone (never before activated anything NXTVision-related - maybe only for a short test).
I’ve reported this to the beta channel, too.
I have frequent reboots (about 3 times a day), I’ve tried the NXTVision force-close and cache deletion stuff, but I’m still experiencing reboots. There was no Google Play update to install, it was already on the newest version.
Opening the Visual Enhancements settings does not lead to crashes.
I’ve checked the options @Lars_Hennig described, but I didn’t have Advanced activated, but “colorful” (or whatever the first one translates to). I will also try setting this to natural and see what happens.
Clear the cache and memory. Also, do not force the “end”. By “ending” the system becomes unstable, especially since it should not be finished.
I did that just now. It rebooted again 10 minutes later
This is not true with me, tried that, but setting was not changed.
Normally I have at least 2 reboots in the morning when getting out of bed. But today it did not happen! Hoera! (Dutch cheer).
What I did:
Setting the color tone to Colorful (Levendig in Dutch), Then I stopt the NXTVision app, cleared cache for this app only and then I did a manual reboot of the phone to finish off.
After that yesterday early evening, I have not had a reboot , current uptime is 15:27 h (Settings - About Phone (Over de telefoon) and then scroll down.
Do you have to do that for all your installed apps? (clear cache) I think it’s quite a hassle.
I’m actually eagerly waiting for FP to come up with THE solution themselves, if I’m honest.
