I tried changing to Advanced to see if maybe that helps. It rebooted like 3 times today and reset it back to Vivid automatically it seems
My FP4 keeps also rebooting several times a day after upgrading to Android 15. Often it reboots in the early morning when I want to use my phone for the first time. I read a lot of the same stories in this Forum, but don’t see concrete answers. I already did four service requests to the help desk, but until now no reaction at all. Very bad service Fairphone! At least give a signal that you recognize the problem and are working on a solution.
What about this solution?
Hello.
That was acknowledged in the topic in the Android 15 update
We want to confirm that the reported issues have been passed on to the relevant teams and they are actively working on fixes
Hi Lotte, thanks for your quick reply on this forum. I’m looking forward for a solution on this rebooting problem. But still, why doesn’t sent FP this answer to customers who send a request for assistance?
Though the phrasing “issues resolved in the coming software updates” is rather worrying. It would mean that there is no hope for any fix before the next FP4 update, which (judging from past experience) should not arrive before February 2026… ![]()
(No point denying. The wording “resolved in the coming software updates” clearly refers to specific, fixed, predetermined events, and the only ones existing are the bi-(and a half)-monthly security updates. If Fairphone had wanted to say “a fix is coming”, they would had said “resolved in a coming software update”.)
I would very much appreciate an official workaround until a fix is ready.
Hi Kurt, thanks for your reply. I deleted cache and data of NXTVision app. So far so good. But I can’t find the october version of NXTVision in Google Play… Do you have a link?
Hi Kurt, excuses. I didn’t remark your hint for updating the NXTVision app. Update & reboot successfully done. I hope this finally will fix the reboot problem…
Hi John_FP4,
it seems that you mixed up two things. In context with the reoccuring reboots it was mentioned that the update of the Google System Services didn’t install correctly and that was suspected to be in relation to the reboots.
But in the end it turned out that the deleting of cache and data was sufficient in most (if not all) cases. There is no update available yet for the NXTVISON display driver.
Greets Robert
Hi Robert, I just followed F_Airlex advice (I cited previously Kurt falsly) and updated Google Systems Services. Before that I already deleted cache & data of NXTVision. I’ll wait and see if the rebooting stopsn. Both thanks for your help. Regards, John
FP4 constantly restarting after Android 15 update
Hi everyone,
Since updating to Android 15, my Fairphone 4 keeps crashing and restarting constantly(pretty much 3 or so times a day). Often as soon as I open it. It wasn’t doing this previously.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? I’ve seen reports about background apps being killed and QuickStep crashes, but not much about restart issues.
Any suggestions for troubleshooting would be appreciated. Should I try safe mode first, or is this a known bug with a fix coming?
Thanks!
Hi Kate, I had the same problem. See this post: Reboots after A15 upgrade - #105 by F_Airlex It worked for my FP4.
See also this post: Reboots after A15 upgrade - #112 by melzrob No update NXTVision app needed; only clear cache & data NXTVision app.
Regards, John
Hi F_Airlex, until now my FP4 doesn’t reboot any more. So it seems your tip to clear cache & data of the NXTVision app did the trick. Thanks! Regards, John
PS Excuses for mixing up your name with ‘Kurt’; the thread of this forum is a little bit confusing…
Awesome I’ll give it a go.
Good for you John! Unfortunately that doesn’t go for me …
Hm. If NXTVision is at fault, another possible workaround for people for whom just turning off Advanced doesn’t help is to turn on eye comfort mode. This is usually on at night and disables NXTVision completely: the crashes happening at sunrise suggests that NXTVision turning on as eye comfort mode turns off is causing the crashes in this case, too.
(Of course, this changes the colour balance of the screen in a way you might not like in daytime – but if it stops the crashes, that might be a price worth temporarily paying.)
Salut. Was the same for me. Region also is Germany. Eventually after I tried to apply that setting for the sake of testing what it does, the phone rebooted twice in a row(by itself, creepy) got super slow and laggy and then for no reason at all reading mode was enabled. But I thought it had something to do with the fact that I disabled all types of HDR via adb to reduce the temporal dithering. I applied the fix mentioned in that thread and now everything seems stable only can hope that my phone now isn’t rooted by some hackers/nxt creators.
No, NXTVision is certainly innocent. What happens here is that Fairphone’s A15 version is apparently incompatible with some specific NXVision modes. It shouldn’t happen, NXTVision being AFAIK a major Android graphics driver, but as all Fairphone users know all too well, bugs happen. Let’s just hope Fairphone bothers fixing it rather sooner than later.
Let us hope so! Have a nice day!
