Brand new fairphone worked perfectly well during 1 week.
Suddenly after last charging the phone doesn’t start anymore.
Tried all different cables as advised in the forums, removed battery couple of minutes and suddenly phone started again but heating a lot.
Battery was at 53deg so turned off backgrounds apps, switched in dark mode, etc. When battery went down at 20% I charged again and now nothing happens.
That’s not a good experience for my first fairphone after 15 years iPhone… but I believe in fairphone just want it to work properly.
This should not be happening. I would recommend opening a support ticket / chat and documenting it in some form with the support team. In the mean-while:
When you plug in the charger does it show the device is charging or nothing at all – as in just a black screen?
Assuming that the device is in switched off / powered down state, disconnect any cables from it and then press the Power button + Volume down button simultaneously. Is the device able to enter into Fastboot mode?
Hello, I just faced the same issue, I tried the same things an got the same results. I’m currently trying to get my fp6 repaired but Murena (the provider) took to much time just to simply send me a shipping label, I’m very disapointed and angry at this point, this may be the most reparable phone but if if have no clue on how diagnose such a problem we can’t do anything
And you enabled fast charging in the settings? Anyways this should definitely not be happening but fast charging may be too much for the FP6. Note that another also had his FP6 dying although he enabled slow charging so it may still be unrelated to charging speed.
I always use my old 5W charger to charge my FP6 and it stays cool. However I noticed this morning that after a full charge, the reported voltage was 4.49V….which seems a bit high to me for Li-ion battery. I always thought max voltage should be 4.2V, nothing more. I wonder at which point the BMS would trip and prevent the phone from powering up (though mine still work fine at the moment). Could someone else check the voltage reported by the settings/battery info at full charge?
2. Plug your charger into the phone (still without battery).
3. [Wait a few minutes]
4. Insert your battery. (This will give the battery a kick)
5. Charge your phone in one go until 100%. Do not boot.
I have no explanation on the issue, but this worked out. The remaining issue i have is that my Fariphone6 wouldn’t charge more then 92%. I bought Fairphone Charger + Cable and new battery, same : not charging more than 92%. If anyone as a clue, would be wonderfull
Thanks for the solution but it does not seem to work for me, maybe my problem is different, like you I did put my fp6 to charge and a few minutes later i found it dead (can’t remember about the temperature of the phone at this moment).
Just to be sure, at step 4, did the phone had any reaction immediately when you inserted the battery ?
Not Good!! something about a brand-new Fairphone not even booting after charging feels like a bad battery/firmware sync or a hardware fault right out of the box.
Hello, I have exactly the same problem with my brand new fairphone 6 after less than one week of use. Really desappoint. I contact murena support today but i’ve recived no confirmation email and no answer. I contacted fairphone support. They sent me an answer straight away but told me to contact murena first. How long did it itake you to receive an answer from Murena? I am thinking to get refund.
