Phone suddenly died

I have a FP3+ and it suddenly died a month ago. FP support have been usefless - no response other than to say they have a huge backlog due to reduced staffing. I’m guess its smething serious that has failed to be so sudden, but any ideas gladly recieved.

Battery was full and I have tried using the full battery from my wife’s matching phone, so know its not that…

I have experienced something similar is your LED turning on when you are charging it? It might be something called sudden death Sudden death DIY

Thanks for your reply. No, nothing when its plugged in

I have the same problem. I am going to try to get it fixed this evening by a fairphone angel. Maybe contact one in your area Fairphone angels.

The solution for this problem is what I linked in my other reply. It involves heating the phone to 200°C in an oven or 350°C with a heat gun and it isn’t certain that this will solve the problem.

Good luck!

…and if it works, it’s most likely temporary, so it’s best to make an immediate backup of all the information you want to keep .

Could you kindly keep this in the topic you openend to not mix and duplicate? Thanks

I experienced a similar issue this weekend. I went to a makerspace and followed SMARTRONIK’s guide on youtube and it solved the issue. (the guide is in German but the english auto-translation is quiet good!)

I think SMARTRONIK’s reasoning about what might go wrong for FP3 phones makes a lot of sense - the CPU/memory solder joints can break under a slight bending force due to difference in hardness from the PCB (for me it likely happened while the phone was pocketed in my shorts on a bicycling trip). I’m now considering making a metal backplate to give the FP3 extra support.

Perhaps you have to consider some insulation material to prevent short-circuit.
