Official LineageOS 21 for Fairphone 3/3+

lineage-21.0-20241204-nightly-FP3-signed.zip
Is the one I am using now with the camera issues.
Before that I was using the nightly that added the November security fixes. That was probably 2 or 3 nightlies ago. (Edit: lineage-21.0-20241113-nightly-FP3-signed.zip)
The camera was working then.

Thanks @Grimmwolf

Iā€™ll give a try to lineage-21.0-20241113-nightly-FP3-signed.zip

By the way, it has been years since I installed a custom ROMā€¦
Can I kindly ask you some urls / piece of advice regarding how I should do here (LineageOS on FP3+) ?

EDIT:
OK, I found this: āœ FP3/FP3+: Complete guide for installing LineageOS

Thanks

Hello,

Iā€™m also experiencing camera crash issue.

If you want to install this version, reboot in recovery (power + lower volume buttons) and on a computer use adb sideload your-rom.zip.
Of course, plug a usb cable between the fp3 and your computer.

Another thing, the power drain is insane atm. Form 85% to 20% in 6 hoursā€¦ With the usual use profile.

I wonder if the blobs did thisā€¦

hello,
I did try downgrade but it does not work without factory reset, then I did put back last build.

I disabled 4G-mobile network and now the energy consumption is much lower. Something wird is going on.

@TeamB58 Hello, can you remove lineage-21.0-20241204-nightly-FP3-signed build from downloads on lineageos website? It has at least a blocking bug on rear camera and probably a firmware issue on power management.

this change is probably faulty: https://review.lineageos.org/c/LineageOS/android_device_fairphone_FP3/+/409986
maybe reverting it until we find a fix is ok?

Letā€™s see if someone replies here:

Seeing the same here. Draining at a rate of approx. 10%/1h which is really really insane. I actually ordered a replacement battery because I assumed it had just broken after 5 years or so.

Iā€™m seeing similar things. At least the rear camera is broken to the point of being unusable. The first app to access the camera manages to show a preview, but if I close that, and open another app, it starts to complain about not being able to access the camera because something is still using it. It kind of sounds like something is not being cleaned up properly.

Follow-up: The battery consumption view in settings seems to be broken as well. Even though the battery is down by some 15% right now, and Iā€™ve used the phone for scrolling through news, it doesnā€™t show any consumption and 0 min screen time since the last full recharge.

That is a good point. The draining probably comes from the camera. If you reboot and dont launch the camera app, the drain is not there!

Hm, that actually matches up with what Iā€™m experiencing today. I know I used my camera yesterday, and had an abnormally high battery drain. But today I rebooted after testing camera hangups, and havenā€™t used the camera since, and the battery drain is pretty much as expected. So it does look like this is the same issue.

Hi All,

There hasnā€™t been any change recently from device side. This is just a patch level upgrade with no change to the blobs.

Issue was caused by a kernel security fix that was improperly applied at Fairphoneā€™s side. I have reverted that here. I shall ask for a rebuild so that we need not take down current build.

I shall update here on the status.

Edit: Build has been triggered here.

Thanks.

Thank you for fixing the issue. I will try the new build once it is there and report back.

The new build is ready, but it looks like the various patches since the november patches are not included. Neither the blob, nor your fix.

I didnā€™t quite get you.

Changelog

I can confirm this even has the Dec SPL + November vendor SPL with the kernel revert that actually fixes the issue.

Installed the 20241208 build, and the camera seems to be working normally again. Iā€™ll come back later after Iā€™ve monitored power consumption a while.

Edit: nevermind. The order in the changelog got changed a lot and confused meā€¦
