Installed it today. Didn’t notice any difference in working of performance, which is a good thing with security updates.

Are there issues with the camera or power consumption? There are some in lineageOS possibly due to the fairphone blobs.

I didn’t see any. Could you tell more about the bugs ?

There seem to be two issues that we have noticed so far:

  • Battery consumption is extremely high, on the order of 10%/1h sometimes. At least for me, I’m also not seeing any data available in the settings → battery → battery usage view, it shows 0 min screen time since last charge, which is just incorrect. The usage diagram is also not available.
  • The camera seems to be broken. At least for the rear camera, the first app to access it can manage to show the image preview, but it doesn’t capture anything, but instead just hangs. Other apps that I try to open after closing the first complain about the camera still being in use. This occurs regardless of whether I attempted to take a picture with the first app, or “just” used the preview.

Edit by moderator: as not everyone reads the entire discussion: those issues showed up with the Lineage Update from 04Dec24 not the here discussed FPOS update!

Yes, apologies about not making that clear: This is not a report for the FPOS update, but for the LineageOS 21 build for FP3+, which uses some binary blobs from FPOS.

I’ve had this update installed on my FP3 (FPOS) for three or four days now and I haven’t noticed any problems at all :slightly_smiling_face:.

On my end, it seems that the battery consumption is higher than usual. Maybe see the answer from the maintainer of the LineageOS version regarding a possible bug related to the security patch: Official LineageOS 21 for Fairphone 3/3+ - #117 by TeamB58

I also have the update on fpos for a long time without problems.

Yes, the battery does consume slightly more power. What I find really annoying is how the behaviour changes when I switch applications. Take Keepass, for example – it’s practically impossible to use because the input fields are empty when I return to the browser tab. I’ve even had to reconfigure the Brave browser to make sure that it doesn’t completely close every time I switch between the browser and, for example, Pachli (a Mastodon client).
I wish I could undo the update
