I’m having an issue with some apps performing background tasks ever since switching to LOS21. Some apps, e.g., K-9, F-Droid, and yr.no, do not perform the things they’re supposed to do in the background. For yr.no, it doesn’t even update the widget unless I manually start the app.
Other background apps, like Signal or Threema, work fine.
Did Android 14 add some settings that I need to switch on (or off)? I enabled the things I know about, i.e., allow background activity for those apps in their settings, as well as allowing unlimited data usage for at least some of them, but that doesn’t seem to have helped.
PS: Writing this, it appears to me that the apps that work, to the best of my knowledge, use push services, whereas those that don’t work all seem to use pull-based approaches.
Since MicroG update of August 15 I often encounter global system freezes followed by a crash of “system UI”. Last time it append I suspected my phone to be running out of RAM and I think I catched “Android System” using 3.2 GB of RAM in the developper options (I’m not sure because it felt buggy, this was the only app listed). After a restart I have 1.2 GB of free RAM.
Also, I could hardly run multiple apps : TrackerControl (background tracker blocked) was killed, Spotify can’t run while using Firefox, …
After the update yesterdag I can’s call anymore. The call will start bij is disconnected after 30 seconds with the massage “No Service”.
I have a FP3 with Lineage 21 and update yesterday.
The update from September 4th seems to have cleared up the issue where I was only getting some notifications. I’m getting at least mail notifications again, and widgets are starting to update as well.
