My FP2: 10 years and counting

Here you can ask for a badge when your FP2 turns 10 years old and is still in use.
What a achievement!

I’ll present my case, your Honour, and you’ll decide the outcome.
I bought my FP2 second hand, on January 2023. It came withouth a back panel, which makes me think it was part of the initial batch, the one that had issues with the dissintegrating transparent back panel.
I bought a new backpanel and a battery, installed LineageOS on it, and I used it until September 2025, when the battery life was down to half a day, and it had become unbearable. Now I’m using an FP4.
Now my venerable FP2 has become part of my personal retro-tech collection, and will be preserved, as it rightfully deserves.

I rest my case :innocent:

If with “back panel” you mean the back part of the 2-part so-called “slim cover”, the initial batch of the Fairphone 2 from the end of 2015/start of 2016 didn’t come with the slim cover, which was introduced later towards the end of 2016 because the initial 1-part cover was not standing the test of time for quite a number of users …

So, a Fairphone 2 could very well be initial batch, but not because any kind or part of cover is missing.

Ok, so mine does not have the “one of the first” engraving, so it’s clearly not from that initial batch. As for the backpanel/slim cover, I had this in mind: What happened with our transparent cases? - Fairphone

I can not really know when mine was built, or why it was sold without the cover, I was just speculating a bit.

Unfortunately, having an FP2 does not entitle you to a badge.
The phone must be in use.

I won’t discuss that, but I had to try :innocent:
