Hi, Iāve found this video online of an installation of e/os, though on a pixel phone. I think it would be the same more or less with a fairphone. Of course you first have to request a code at fairphone to unlock it (via the fairphone website) with you IMEI and device Serial Number.
Here is the video:
Iāve installed a few OSās on old phones, though the last 2 OSās were with the provided installer ^^ the first ones were with manually flashing all partitions⦠a bit of a pain but a lot of learning .
I am a bit far from Helmond though (Utrecht), but I could help you via video call or else? Or we can plan a visit.
It seems that Iām already stuck with the ADB fastboot on my Windows Device, since prompt checking adb devices doesnāt show the FairPhone as a debuggable device.
Since you got experience with installing ROMS, what would it take for you to help me with it in person?
Planing to replace Android by s/os by replacing my Fairphone 3+ by Fairphone 5 or 6, I also want to replace Windows 11 by Linux till end of this year.
Who can answer, what will be the smoother way:
First change Fairphone and after that Windows or
first change Windows by Linux (any recomandations?) for family network?) and than replace android by e/os?
I would say it depends what you have right now? I mean if you are waiting to buy a FP5 or 6, and you already have a computer, you can start with the computer, and later when you get the phone, flash e/os on it. I have flashed e/os using windows and linux, and it worked well on both system (using the command line to install e/os instead of the web-installer).
As for linux distributions, if it is your first linux I would recommand ālinuxMintā. It worked well for me to transition, and depending on your system you can choose which desktop environment (the graphic inteface) fit your computer (lightweight / heavy resource). There are many flavor of Linux, I tried a few after linuxmint but this one was the first and I got used to it. Some tweaks need to be made in after the installation to have it up and running but nothing too complicated. I could give you a hand to install it (I do it regularly, refurbishing laptops and installling linux to give them more lifetime).
Moving from the Fairphone edition of the Gogol version of Android to the /e/ edition of the Lineage version of Android Open Source Project will be an around one hour job, and then you will be able to continue to play with you usual applicationsā¦(except some banking) A safe guide to install /e/OS on your Fairphone
.
Moving from Microsoft Windows to any GNU Linux is another achievement !
If you cannot simply add a new drive into your computer (the best possible configuration)
I recommend that you first of all fdisk your drive using Microsoft tools, to check and fix possible errors.
So when booting a ālinux liveā (DVD or USB), you will be able to safely use āgpartedā to reduce the windows system partition size,
still using āgpartedā, in the newly not allocated free space create 3 partitions
for the root system usage (/),
for swap exchange (double of your RAM),
for the human users usage (/home), apps and datas
and finally install the Linux system in the newly created partitions.
That way you will be able to enjoy āDual Bootā : starting the PC you can choose between Windows or Linuxā¦
Note : i am personally used to create an additionnal partition for personnal documents storage (i choose an universal format to be able to access it from any OS)
Discovering GNU Linux, and the desktop environnement of your choice (i like MATE), you will have to discover new applications to do all task you are used to do with your PC. (except Web Surfing)
