FP6 does not turn on any more after complete discharge

Hello

My Fairphone 6 doesn’t work since this morning. It seems fully discharged and not responding anymore to battery loading.

Yesterday evening it was at 7%, I reloaded before going to bed, but didn’t check if it was really loaded when I set up the alarm cloak.

This morning, the phone screen was black and not responding neither to start button, nor to loading. I tried with several chargers and even with a USB to a computer. Nothing seems to work.

I am still in contact with the support, but troubleshooting tool told me to send the phone back (which implies, 2 or 3 weeks without a phone, and a reset & loss of unsaved datas). I wonder if I would be a good move to buy a battery and try a replacement.

Did anyone have the same problem and how did you solve it ?

hello
just double checking, what charger did you use yesterday?

a UGREEN Nexode 65W GaN USB C (I bought it for a travel) + a EGO Wiry Max 100W Usb-C to Usb-C PD Real-Time Wattage. (Both are still working)

The first thing I notice yesterday was that the EGO screen was blank.

There have been some reports on issues with fast charging, as far as I remember, devices needed to be sent back for repair.

If that is indeed the case, swapping the battery will not help. But obviously there’s no harm in trying, you can also try to get in touch with a local #Angel.

Thank you, I didn’t know that issue.

Not sure this will help at all, but I’ve woken up a couple of times to “Oh no…” moments with the fairphone. The last time I was able to use the last bit of charge to put it in recovery mode (Power + Volume Up until anything on the screen happens). If you still get that far, just reboot from there (no use do data wipe or factory reset). The gesture alone might also prompt a discharged phone to at least get the idea :).
Charge with a “normal” cable and it might charge and come back to life.

I used a Xioami quick charge adapter and cable a couple of times when I first got the fairphone and have sicne learned to not do that. I have also activated slow charging in the device settings to avoid any issues in the future.

I just put it on load on my former phone basic charger. I tried Power + volume+ but nothing happened. I will try later.

It’s really a disaster to lose a phone which has been set up for everyday modern life. My former phone is too old now and notrhing works : no gps, no web payment as authenticator doesn’t work, planning lost, all social network cut off, no travel app, everything is kaputt.

I fully understand and that should not happen. But what would you do, if your phone gets stolen or smashed to the ground? You always need a plan B.

If it’s now only a problem with charging, you can try a new battery, which comes precharged and save your data at least.

More of a meta topic:
I suggest that you improve the title of your post a little, so that it actually reflects the issues you’re having. That would make it a lot easier for people to find it.
For example: “FP6 does not turn on any more after complete discharge” or something of the likes.

I sent my FP6+ in for repair today.

I have this exact problem with my fairphone 6 right now. My idea was to charge the phone externally, but the contacts are so tiny that I don’t feel comfortable with this.
