My FP5 is having charging issues, I need to restart the device several times until it starts to charge.
It shows it’s charging but it’s not. It already happened several times and it messed up my whole day. I used to put my phone to charge before leaving the house, and when I grabbed it I always saw it didn’t charge at all in the past hour.
Tried different cables, different chargers, cleaned the ports, etc. It won’t charge until I have restarted several times. This is very annoying.
I posted on Reddit too and I see others are having the same issue too.
Is this a known issue already? Are there any fixes coming for it? Is there a way to report it to the developers and send logs if needed? Thanks!
Yeah this happens to me too, occasionally. Normally when using the official Fairphone charger.
Just gets to some random % and then stops charging (but it says it IS charging). Normally taking it off charge and putting it back on again gets it going again.
The FP5, in my experience has been a flaming bin fire.
Today it started a new “bug”. Put it on charge and it boot looped until I took it off.
In my case, I have to restart it (sometimes even several times) until it charges again. If I plug it out and then back again it does nothing, I tried a dozen times.
The charger is good and so is the cable.
The most annoying thing as you said, is that IT SHOWS THAT IS CHARGING, but is actually not. So now I constantly live with anxiety and check the phone if it actually charges, so I won’t leave the house again with an empty battery.
and never have problem with not charging, not (non-manually) stoping before 100%, reboot when connect cable, nothing…
but not all (be correct not any charge with max supported 30W…
maximum is ~24W using one lenovo notebook (travel) adapter (but not other/older (clasic) model) and with car charger, others charge ~8-12W, so maybe be problem with official charger or non-official which charge at 30W?
Get it RMA’d before the warranty runs out. If it already has might be time to sell it and buy something else. I wouldn’t even want to throw parts at something like that because it “might” be the battery, or the USB-C board, but its probably the main board which can’t be changed.
IF you are in warrenty, RMA it. One of my biggest regrets with mine was not pushing harder for an RMA
Mine started doing this sometimes as well, i think it started happening after I removed the battery to swap the SD card. Only having issues with standard 5 volt chargers so far.
