Nice idea. Unfortunately a deactivation didn’t help.
Deactivated > Reboot > Activated > Reboot.
So I still have the bug and can test other ideas ![]()

Thank You, JohanF, worked like a charm on my FP5.
Slight addition: when working in a Mac (at least on my Mac with macOS 13.6.9) via terminal and zsh the commands had to start with
./adb …
another addition: you can use wireless debugging to resolve this issue without a computer
The application is a paid in the PlayStore, but since its open source, free builts do exist
It did not connect automatically for me, but skipping setup and running “adb pair 192. …” worked like a charm.
Same issue here with 0 byte pictures sometimes, and I recently had several times videos that last 1 second only when saved. Someone else too?
Hi @vlstr
Same here, it was always like this on my FP5.
i just remove those files when i see them.
it looks like to me its a bug in the the WhatsApp app.
ore are those to separate issues displayed in the same screenshot of the camera roll on my phone?
greetings,
Tom
Thank you very much. It worked for me!
Hi,
i have not seen the issue in a long time, may it be solved?
Greetings
Tom
Hello everyone!
Now I’d like to report the following: I’ve had various LG phones since around 2006, most recently a GD800 mini, then two BQ phones, followed by the PF5 since November 2023.
Each one contained a Samsung micro SD memory card, and when I switched phones, I copied each “old” card to a new, larger, and faster one. There were never any problems! Original PF5 Camera App with always-up-to-date GoodleFotos app. The SD card is external.
But with the FP5, black 0-byte photos and videos appear in the Google Photos app, even photos taken long before 2023.
And screenshots taken recently are occasionally displayed as black. I foolishly deleted the black material, but I’m sure the photos are all visible on other devices, such as a Linux PC.
I think there’s a problem with the interaction between the Google app and the PF5.
Regards
Felix
Same here. It happens very randomly, but I suspect there’s a link with the memory issues and apps crashing in the background.
When I have the 0 byte photo, I think my background apps are killed at the same time.
Also it’s not just Google photos - the 0 byte photos are not recognized by other apps, like Whatsapp: it says something like “unrecognised format”
Même problème que vous ![]()
It is not solved on my phone. No change since my last post in this topic, June 2024.
In any case I think we have been led to believe that no solution will be offered apart from reinstall over adb for those who can, or factory reset for those who can’t. See post 37 above.
For those unfamiliar with adb, you might like to check whether there’s a Fairphone Angel near you who might be able to help.
The camera app itself has evolved, but the problem didn’t come from the app itself but the way it got installed in some cases, as I understand it.
May I suggest all newcomers to this topic kindly read from the top.
Anyone who encounters the bug should declare it to official Support.
