Fairbuds XL ANC left and right different

I recently noticed something strange about the ANC behavior of the Fairbuds XL. It looks like the right speaker applies noise cancellation more aggressively compared to the left speaker. This becomes apparent by softly rubbing over the ANC microphone with my finger. On the left speaker, I hear a scratchy sound when I do so. On the right I hear a similar sound when I rub the right ANC microphone, but much louder. Have other people observed this too?

Potentially related topics:

  1. Crackling noise on fairbuds xl NC
  2. Fairbuds left ear Crack loudly when ANC is enabled
  3. Fairbuds XL speaker broke 6 months after use
  4. Fairbuds XL noise cancelling hiss

Just bumped into an issue that gave me a similar concern. (Left speaker sounded dull, solved by removing and reinserting the battery :person_shrugging:)
But I think this difference between how going over each ANC mic sounds is because there’s two of them on R, and just one on L…? At least that’s what it looks like when you peek under the covers.

oh really, I don’t think I’ve looked close enough to see that difference. I’ve been using the headphones now for a while, including in noisy areas, and ANC seems to be fine with no difference between L/R. so if the L/R ANC mic rubbing difference is just due to what you mentioned, I guess that is fine!

Yeah mine does this too. I always wondered why. But in practice, the sound is treated equally on both sides, so I assumed its some audio engineering magic I dont understand. So like, is it really a problem?

yeah not a problem at all then. was just wondering since I thought it was odd. will mark this as solved!
