Earspeaker not working

Unfortunately I marked today, that I also can´t hear any phone calls (and also Whatsapp) by the ear speaker. Maybe it depends on the last update I made three days ago.

I´m really just disappointed about this phone - video records in loud environments are impossible to hear, battery runs out within 6 to 7 hours by normal use and now I can´t hear calls only with the loudspeaker or any bluetooth headset.

I just believed in the philosophy of the fair production, payed € 700 for such a poor quality but now I´m really disappointed.

The ear speaker is not working on calls. If I switch to the loudspeaker I can hear the caller. But even this loudness is more quieter than calls up to, let’s say a week ago.

I do the test with the fairphone support, unexpected the function of the ear speaker seems to be ok, and the loudspeaker is double loud as by actual calls.

My question was rather to the OP as you mentioned calls on earspeaker, however I notice you have a different issue as you seem to have issues with the speaker not the mic. So I open a new topic as it doesnt fit in the other topic about mic issues…

Same thing with my Fairphone 5 since the latest update from a few days ago. Earspeaker is not functional any more, only loudspeaker. I hope there will soon come another firmware update to fix the problem!

I replaced the ear speaker with a new one yesterday but unfortunately this did not solve the problem!

@all hoping will not help, please report to support. I dont have this issue with the recent update, so there should be other things interfering.

Have you tried in safe mode? Infos how to are here dic:safemode

Have you done the internal tests for the speaker, they can be found in the my Fairphone App.

@yvmuell

thx.
Safe Mode is no remedy in my case. I’ve reported it to support. So let’
s wait for 2 or 3 weeks :frowning:

yep, i did the internal test and also reported it to support. That was more than 3 weeks ago … never got a response so i thought i would replace the part. Unfortunately without result

Tried to contact the support on friday. Up to now they just answered - they would not do nothing, I had to contact the reseller. The reseller told me on friday , I can send the phone to them - but maybe 4 to 6 weeks I will not have any phone.

Now I´m sometimes unpolite when dialing a number and forget to activate the loudspeaker (if I dont have the buds in my ear).

Not a really nice situation.

Sorry, it seems that the dic:safemode doesn´t exist anymore.

Up to now I tried to change the sim card, put out the sd card, turned off afwall+, and/or blokada. No changes, calls without loudspeaker are not possible.

@maggle & @maikel_rentinck
Have you also noticed that the speaker is quieter than normal when making phone calls? I remember it being much louder.

When playing media, all speakers seem to be working normally.

It exist and brings you to a list with 1 topic…

Thank you, pressing the “Guide” button opens the site. But unfortunately, even in safe mode the ear speaker is off.

@wurzerl: I can’t tell if it is quieter than it was before as I never made a phonecall with the loudspeaker before this misery began.

I use the original Fairphone OS. Do you use it too?

Meanwhile I activated my old Moto G7+ again, just to be able to use a phone in a useful way. The support from fairphone mailed me yesterday to tell me, they are not able at this time to solve my problem. But I should feel free, to use the “online troubleshooting tool” and the “support faq”. WTF, I´ve done this 10 days ago. Or can do a live chat only on Thursday and friday from 09:00 to 12:00. They just to try kidding me, but I can´t laugh about.

Oh yes, I use the original Fairphone OS and yes, it’s really a nuisance but there we are.

Hope, the next update will hopefully soon bring back the function.

No solution, maybe a total reset could be a possibility.

And what about this solution?

Although I´m not using hearing aids, I don´t find these points in Settings - Accessibility. Just Audio adjustment with one option “Mono audio” and it´s off.

I neither have hearing aids and I have the setting

Edit: so if for you the setting is really missing it might be a reason for your issue and I reason why others dont face it.
