@yvmuell I might be the minority but I do wish to have a NFC icon in my status bar whenever I enable this function. Is there any way I can get it back post update?
My reasonable guess is that it could be normal after the major update (that’s my first). My phone even reported throttling after the update (sic!), with normal temperature so I assume it was still processing
For completeness' sake, the RELEASE NOTES are up by now, but just contain a link to the blog post that is already mirrored at the top of this topic here.

Changes
Introducing Android 14.
For a full list of changes, see our blog post: Android 14 is here.
Maybe your Refresh Rate got set back to 60hz. Go into Settings->Display and check if it’s 60hz or 90hz. 90hz uses a bit more Battery but is a much nicer experience overall because it’s much smoother and more responsive.
I can’t see any difference between 60, 90 or 120Hz refresh rate, might be different for others, but for sure it doesn’t make the phone react ‘sluggish’.
I think it’s the usual bunch of background processes that are running after a major update. When all is set and done, it’s easier to compare how the phone performs with Android 14.
I’m so glad those bouncing icons in the status bar are gone… That really gave a buggy vibe 24/7. Other than that it’s a good major release. No issues so far. It indeed is more sluggish now, I’ll factory reset my phone as soon as I have the time. Usually that’s the easiest and quickest way forward. Other than that, no regressions found yet. Best major release I’ve seen so far from FP. I am somewhat disappointed, some longstanding bugs are still not resolved…
Now, just please release proper case protection and then this phone starts to look mature My FP5 builds up more wear and tear with this “protection case” compared to my FP4. Dirt gets in it, it’s not as tight, so friction causes scratches. And of course, it doesn’t protect the screen. I wonder if this design was a mistake, because I find it hard to believe this design was intended. You can also see that the fingerprint scanner cut out isn’t centered. So it really looks like the wrong dimensions were used.
Got the update like a day after the release announcement. And I havent commented on this thread because of just how… I have nothing to say. The back gesture arrow, when you drag from the side of the screen, is mildly different. And that is all I can notice. I dont feel any improvements, nor any performance degradations. Things just work as they always have. That is generally a good thing.
I made the mistake of hyping myself up for some revolutionary, big overarching rework. That didnt come to be. But I’m still okay with the update. It’s all good.
If AoD is removed I’m selling my FP5 and moving away from Fairphone as a company and unfortunately that means moving away from the fair phone industry. Ironically, the opposite of the stated Fairphone mission…
For context, AoD was a major factor on my decision to go for the FP5 over FP4 but at this point I wouldn’t trust Fairphone so I would just move away entirely. Funny how for 8+ years of support promised I start losing essential (for me) features within 1 year. This is basically a scam, hopefully unintentional.
