As of latest update FP6.QREL.16.82.0 I can no longer pick up my phone, press my thumb to the fingerprint sensor, and be presented with the homescreen. This used to work until the update installed last night.
Can you check if fingerprint unlocking is enabled? It is somewhere in the settings, I’m sorry I don’t know the English setting. I’ve found it by searching the settings by “finger”.
It is enabled, and as far as I can tell, still working.
It’s the flow that’s broken: Pick up phone → Touch fingerprint sensor → See homescreen.
I believe the setting “Fingerprint Unlock Behavior” is relevant… and broken.
I deleted and re-enrolled my fingerprints but it hasn’t helped.
So did you try to change the setting reboot, change again and reboot? For me it still works after this update.
Toggling and rebooting didn’t help.
But, it appears the breakage is in the interaction between “Fingerprint Unlock Behavior” and “Extend Unlock”. I’ve removed my trusted devices and places from “Extend Unlock” and now fingerprint unlock works again.
So, definitely a new problem (previously worked fine with Extend Unlock in use), but there’s a workaround.
did you try to re-enable extend unlock (one by one…) to see if its still broken? I never use this, thus this might be the reason I see no issues, however will test with my car now.
Can you tell me how you lock the screen when you are connected to a trusted device or place, or does this happen when you are not at a trusted place or connected to a trusted device.
For troubleshooting reproducible steps are helpful not to they mandatory.
I think I can reproduce this: when I set-up a trusted device to keep the phone unlocked and lock the screen with the power button while connected to the trusted device, unlocking with fingerprint does not work
I’ve just updated, and got exactly the same issue.
I’ve had the same problem since the update
It broke for me too! If I go to the setting for face and finger prints, there is an option “skip the locked screen” (I don’t have it in English). If I disable it, it works, and if I enable it it stops working, I wondered if it might be the translation that is wrong but I guess not.
When the setting is on, it shows the lock screen but I don’t need to draw my schema anymore, it has an open lock at the bottom.
Before, I had that for the face ( I don’t remember what exact setting it was), because if I wanted to just check the time or see if I had any notifications, I didn’t want the phone to completely unlock everytime it detected my face.
But now, it looks like it has to be activated for both finger and face or none of them, and the setting seems to be reversed.
Sometimes, the finger sensor doesn’t even light the screen so there might be another bug.
I hope this helps!
ah thanks for finding this setting, this is indeed new and I was already wondering where this is and how this would make sense
Not only has the issue not been fixed, since the moment I installed the update, I am no longer able to unlock my phone by using the fingerprint sensor. The sensor works fine in all other situations, but I now need to press/click the button that is also the sensor so that the phone wakes up and I can then use my pincode to get in. Only pressing my thumb to the sensor (yes, I tried pressing harder etc, but I’m doing what I used to do and it worked before the update) doesn’t do anything when the phone is locked. Does anyone else recognize this?
Yes, I started a separate thread about this.
Thanks. I missed that!
I have the same problem. Your tip worked for me. Thank you
