Unfortunately, Android keyboard (AOSP) has stopped (Dutch language input)

Continuing the discussion from New software update Kola Nut 1.8.5 is ready:

Thanks for the response, Stefan. Something did change when I did that. So we can narrow down the problem.But now I notice that the “Android AOSP” occurs when I keep the input language on Dutch. I have three input languages to help me check my texts in languages I use the most: Dutch, French, English). Changing to French or English don’t seem to pose a problem, but changing to Dutch immediately gives me the “stopped working” message.
What to do next: or do I need to get to support with this.

If you have used Google Apps previously, the FP thinks you would like to keep using it. If you don’t want to install Google Apps again, you have to choose the AOSP keyboard in the settings. Here is how to do that:

Go to Settings > Input and Language and tick "Android keyboard (AOSP).

In case you run into the problem of Android displaying the error “Unfortunately, Android keyboard (AOSP) has stopped“, thus robbing you the possibility to enter text in any form (short messages, emails, URLs in browser, etc.), simply follow these steps to get rid of it:

1. Open up the menu
2. navigate to Settings
3. open Apps
4. open option All
5. find app Android keyboard (AOSP)
6. choose option Clear data
7. find app Dictionary Provider
8. again choose option Clear data

That’s it! The error should be gone.

Well it helped partly. I didn’t find any “Dictionary Provider”. Now the error is gone, I can select the different languages withot error, but the Dutch spell checker is empty. I’ll try to find how to fix that.

If you find a solution, let us now, I’m curious! In the worst case, you’d have to do the update again (manually), to have the Dutch dictionary installed again.

I think it has also to do with choosing English as system language. I’ve changed that to Dutch now and it seems to working.
