Storage reporting wrong values for SD card formatted as internal

Hey hey!

I have a SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-I 2TB SD card installed in my Fairphone 6, which f3 tests verified as real. It is formatted as internal storage and works fine functionally.

The problem however is that the capacity and usage reported by settings is entirely wrong. Internal storage reports properly, the SD Card reports as 4TB with 2TB used. The settings main view reports the total capacity correctly (but that might also be wrong since the SD Card reports 2TB free anyways), however the usage is wrong, too.

This issue occurs before and after the QREL.15.148.0 update.

See attached screenshot for a visual representation of the issue (would’ve attached three but can’t due to new user restrictions)

Anyone else experiencing similar issues?

Maybe now, but using SD cards as internal memory leads sooner or later to problems. So you should avoid it. Most manufacturers don’t allow it anyway. On your FP6 is it the first option when installing a new card or the second one?

I chose internal on purpose as I want to be able to offload apps that use a lot of storage to it - e.g. deezer with lots of lossless downloads.

Portable storage is not supported by most apps where I care about a large amount of data so that is not an option.

Knowing the caveats of adoptable storage, using it still was a very intentional decision that is worth it for my usecase.

hello.
I respect your (and any user’s) decision to treat their devices as they please.

So I paused and second guessed my idea to post it here.
But, you are reporting a bug and asking for similar experience, so I would just share the relevant guide here (it does contain links to issues with older FP devices)

and with the hope of not sounding patronising*, I do hope you backup your data

(*) this forum is a huge learning opportunity for me and I do not have much experience with SD cards so honestly I can only share the advice of others
