I’ve switched from a 6 years old iPhone and so far Fairphone is a great experience besides two things:
After unlock sometimes the phone is laggy as hell, unusable, if i lock the phone and unlock again it works good.
Speaker quality is just insanely bad - I cannot understand what people actually talking about. Is that something you also experienced?
If I play some music its flat, very poor quality so I dont think its hardware issue (broken speaker or something, I think this is how it is supposed to be).
But I don’t really listen to music directly from speaker - the sound of a call is what drives me mad.
How do you feel about the speaker? It might be deal breaker for me.
Hi, my experience with FP6 stereo speakers was also very disappointing at first.
Then I installed PowerAmp and PowerAmp Equalizer which somehow subjectively improved the sound quality for me in comparison to my former Asus Zenfone 9 which was exceptional.
Interesting, the issue with the lag and re-unlock-fix, I used to have in the FP3 with LineageOS
In regards to the call-sound-quality: I wonder if it is a noise-cancelation issue. Could you try to mute your mic while the other person is talking (for a test)?
I will try it later today, gonna need someone to call me, but that might be an interesting solution since i saw some noise-cancelation changes in latest update.
PowerAmp helped somehow, but it is still far from “good quality”.
I have just bought the Fairphone 6. I like the device a lot, but the audio quality is terrible. Any updates on this? I am thinking of sending back my device over this issue.
Edit: okay, so some people have recommended Poweramp. I have tried that, it kinda worked, but not that great. Next, I tried Wavelet and it makes the phone sound pretty good (and it’s free/open source).
I did this:
Install Wavelet
Click the cog in the bottom left
Enable “Legacy Mode"
Enable all options in the main menu
(Change the preset, although the flat one is fine)
Good news is, this kind of confirms it is a software problem, and Fairphone properly EQing the phone improves the custom EQ even more.
