I live in Belgium, and when I try to update my phone to android 15, it says that no updates are found.
Yes, that was my point. A15 requires better security than A14.
Just to be clear, can you confirm that youâre using Gesture navigation (and not 3-button)?
App is saying that NR NSA

This is a FAQ. See for e.g. the comment below even if itâs about a different phone.
My SD card that had been not working since the FP5.UT2B.B.072.20240920 update is now working again! I have always been too lazy to re-format it, but Iâm happy itâs back.
This confirms my suspicion that it was a software problem.
This is the exact message where I reported that it was broken after the update: Software Update: FP5.UT2B.B.072.20240920 - #21 by RubenNL
Since the latest update, randomly my network name appears in the top left of my notification bar, just before where the time is shown.
The system setting âNetwork name (Display network name in status bar)â is disabled, and if I toggle the setting on and then off again the name will be removed, but then later on it just shows back up again.
I believe everything relating to the notification bar is stock software, so I donât believe this to be caused by other apps on my phone.
Same here. FP5 Android 15, France
Since the update, my FP5 gets really warm just lying there on the table every other day or so. Is anyone else experiencing this?
After some more troubleshooting, I was finally able to remove the search bar. It required enabling and updating Google and Chrome apps and probably also setting Chrome as default browser. Weird behaviour, but after the search bar got removed, I was able to disable those apps once again.
Hi,
Is there a way to turn off the screenshot sound on the Fairphone 5 after the Android 15 update?

Yes, with a new Google account
Some things will remain a mystery to me. I know there are some posts about this already, but I finally decided to set up my Fairphone again after having had sent it in for repairs earlier this year. I was happy to get an upgrade to Android 15, but there was something that really vexed me again. It is so small, but not being able to modify or remove that search bar really grinds my gears.
Worse, it is bugging. When you long press it, you can select âCustomizeâ, but for me, the button does nothing. And, when the bar works (Sometimes it just says âwidget loadingâ) it isnât even a proper google search bar, like I cant quick access Google Lens from there.
Reading forum posts, this issue has existed and bothered people for a long time, myself included. I own the device, I can repair it etc etc, that seems to be the philosophy of Fairphone. But I get forced to have some stupid bar in my face. I can disable Google, sure, but then a date/time widget takes place. It just really annoys me and I wish they would rectify it in an software update. Being forced to have the bar is bad enough, but then it isnt even useful when you dont have the shortcuts.
I know I can get different launchers, but then maybe some other integrations have issues. I like the default look and feel and the app icon colours, material you etc. I would want to keep everything as is, but that bar. I dont want to go to lenghts to fix such a small thing. I saw people suggesting removing it with adb, but apparently, then some other widget still goes there. Disabling Google isnt also really a good idea, when so many services/Android depends on it.
I hope something is done against this, I read it is because its default android. I wanted to write support about it, but with my past experiences and with the dropdown option you have when contacting support, it seems its not really for feedback. I know how long I waited for my phone to get taken in from repair and I dont want to make anyone wait if I sent in my wish, knowing that It probably will not do anything.
I moved your post here and one of the benefits of A15 is a new setting to disable the search (while you could always get rid of it by disabling the google App, no adb needed and disabling this app does nothing bad)
Yeah, I feel stupid for writing a post and having overlooked that
Thank you! Itâs a very nice and welcome addition
A post was merged into an existing topic: Android Auto and the new A15 build for Fp5
Since this update, my Google Agenda app icon shows always 31 instead of the current date. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I experience the same, furthermore it seems to me that the FP5 is too much strained with the new android. Switching between apps often results in apps âcrashingâ (being closed because of lack of resources) making sharing of pictures etc between apps practically impossible. Also the battery consumption is really high and charging while using takes ages.
So all in all I get the impression that it was a bad idea with the new android version.
Update:
Regarding the background processes, I tried a solution described here:
