Searching for apps doesn't work as attended

Hi all

I’ve noticed something weird when searching for apps in the searchbox. When searching for an app and selecting it, it opens a completely different app. It seems as if it selects the app that’s in that spot when not searching for anything.

This happens when I search for an app and select it as fast as possible. If I wait a second before selecting it opens the app I’ve searched for. This could suggest it’s a simple animation glitch/bug?

Does anyone have the same problem? If so did you fix it with some kind of setting?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Does your problem resemble this one?

Disabling the animation did fix it for me.

Seems the UI (Animation) is so slow it will open the first app of the default app list.

At least this is what happened to me

Thanks, that also works for thr FP5 issue!
Seems like it’s an error they have been carrying from FP4 already.

Nice :+1:t3:

I prefer the quicker refreshing without animations anyway

Hi OldRoutard

Thanks for the reply! No not really it’s really more like an animation bug.

Hi joe.is.asking.3

Thanks for the advice, I’ll try that!

Bug report:

Fairphone 6 with Android 15, not rooted, just factory settings.

Reproduction:

Open the app drawer and check which app appears first.

Start typing in the search bar and quickly click on the first result. If you’re quick enough, the app that launches will not be the expected result, but rather the first app in the app drawer that was in that position before you started typing. Note that the app icon you click on is the correct search result, but the app that launches isn’t. It seems like the rendering is faster than the underlying logic.

This is annoying if, like me, you often use the search functionality. I often launch the first app in the app drawer instead of the app I searched for, even though I clicked on the correct app icon.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I’ve moved your question here, a solution is offered in post 3 above.

In English, go to
Settings > Accessibility > Colour and motion

Enable Remove animations.
