When I charge my phone, the battery saver message flips between “battery saver off” and “ battery saver unavailable”. The charge gradually falls. It was over 30% when I started charging and is now at 19%. If I switch the phone off and then plug in the charger, the phone switches itself back on and then the power starts decreasing.
Just for the record, which OS version are you running? After difficulties with the Fingerprint sensor, did you update to C.059?
Did you send your phone in for repair?
Charging problems usually come from cable, contacts (in plugs and sockets), charger, USB port, components on main board (motherboard). Below are some suggestions
- Cable: if possible test using another cable.
- Make sure the contacts of the cable connectors, USB port and charger USB port are clean. Use a wooden or plastic toothpick, very delicately to remove dirt and fluff, then the small aperture tool of a vacuum cleaner, or a compressed air can to finish cleaning.
- Check the charger and test with a different one, preferably 1A (5W) or 2A (10W). I’ve seen a cable work with one charger but not another, and a charger work with one cable and not another, so try combinations, if possible borrowing from family or friends.
- Check the Fairphone Angels map to see if there’s one near you who might be able to help, for example loan of a USB port for testing.
Hello,
thanks for the suggestions. I updated to C0.059 as I was having the problem logging in after update to A15. I did not send my phone for repair as I didn’t get a response from FP when I logged the problem with them.
Thanks for telling me about the Fairphone Angels. Unfortunately none of them are located nearby.
I don’t have another cable to test with. I tried cleaning the contacts but it has not helped. I’ve ordered a new charger and am awaiting delivery.
Just for the sake of completeness. Don’t forget to clean the contacts on the cable. A dry, clean toothbrush and some alcohol will do the trick.
It seems to me that the Fairphone is a bit sensitive to dirty contacts.
