Yes and how does it help now to keep on discussing this broken record of the past further?
Yes the communication was extremly bad and yes they did not even manage to do what they promised. This was discussed ad nauseum and this to me as even more annoying than the non communication of FP. So I would appreciate if we could move on and see how its going now that after a long time a dedicated forum manager was assigned.
I agree with you if Fairphone’s communication with the community continues to improve. But only time will tell. And we will see the first evidence of this when Android 15 is rolled out in November.
Hi @Laurenss , thanks for your question! This is an official support article from Fairphone, so you should be able to rely on this information. And yes: Android 15 for FP4 is confirmed (roll out to start in November). Continued security patching until mid 2028 is still the goal as well!
Hello and welcome @Fairphone_CM!
Great that Fairphone now has a dedicated community manager ![]()
I just want to point you to this wiki:
There are all the issues listed that FP6 users are currently fighting with. I know that for some, Fairphone is looking already in to this (e.g. @anon76468197 wanted to get back on the picture missing issue, and the refresh rate was being worked on in some updates, although not completely solved), but maybe it is helpfull to have a look at all of them
FP has their own Bug List (not saying its helpful or complete) and works on issues reported to support directly. So whatever people are facing, everyone need to report to support directly, the list is just a forum list as overview for us users.
I know that they have their own list, and most of the issues were already being reported to support, but maybe our community manager has some additional way of communication with the software team ![]()
You know, and many others dont. We constantly have the misunderstanding that reporting bugs here is sufficient, thus I will repeat my general broken record every time I see such comments like yours, to avoid this misunderstanding, as this will cause even more frustration.
Thank you so much, @Kalibri , this is very helpful as I continue to get organized and follow up on open topics! I found similar community trackers for the FP5 & FP4, is there one for the FP3 as well?
And @yvmuell is absolutely right: it is crucial that the very first step for any customer facing an issue is to use the Self-Repair Portal and its guided troubleshooting. ![]()
Using the Self-Repair Portal ensures your issue is addressed as quickly and efficiently as possible:
-
Fastest Resolution: The troubleshooting (TS) steps in the Self-Repair Portal resolve most issues immediately.
-
Official Tracking: For problems that aren’t resolved through TS, opening a support request via the Self-Repair Portal ensures CS can track every case. This data is essential for them to escalate critical issues or develop new, effective troubleshooting processes.
Of course I am also here to identify high-impact community trends and large, unresolved issues, so the community issues trackers seem really valuable! While I can flag these trends internally, I cannot open or escalate single customer cases. Only a logged support ticket can do that.
If you want to share feedback about the Self-Repair Portal please do so in this topic, so that I can follow up & forward the most important points internally. ![]()
no this was started with the FP4.
I hear you @Robert_J ! While we defo need to improve communication as also acknowledged by former Forum Manager Alon here, developing software updates is a complex process (you can find more info here) & while being dependent on external partners for some parts we cannot share about every step publicly. As you probably know you can find the most recent officially available software version for every Fairphone model here.
If you want to be more involved in the future you could apply to become a Beta Tester! ![]()
Hello to @Fairphone_CM,
many thanks for your feedback. I understand that Fairphone do not want to publicly disclose which external partners it relies on for the development of software updates. It would have been enough for me to know that work on a software update (e.g. Android 15 for Fairphone 4) was still ongoing. That would definitely have been better for me than hearing nothing for three and a half months, despite requests from the community.
Best regards,
Robert
Update: Android 15 is starting to roll out to Fairphone 4 tonight! (Oct 27, 2025) ![]()
Hi! will fairphone consider a refresh to the designs for the Fairbuds XL? There are a number of design issues (both software and hardware) that are creating unnecessary levels of defects and e-waste, alongside expensive visits to the webstore…
Addressing some of the issues with the (long abandoned) firmware, stronger replacement parts (the headband base is notorious for snapping but has never been resolved) and more granular replacements to reduce the waste of replacing faulty parts…. all things that I think are worthy of investing time into.
Right now, I’m refusing to use the FP shop (or recommending FP to others) because unfortunately I’ve been producing MORE plastic waste by relying on it than if I’d just found a “bad” brand that happened to use higher quality materials up front.
Thanks for sharing your feedback, I’ll forward it to the relevant team internally.
