October Update 🍁

Hello to the Fairphone Community Manager,

really thanks for your informations. But one point is not clear for me. As I understand it the skip of Android 14 for Fairphone 4 was already decided at the beginning of July. There is a corresponding post in the forum with the promise that Android 15 will be comming soon. Can you explain what was the reason, that there are no information about the progress of Android 15 for Fairphone 4 in the last three and half mons?

Best regards,
Robert

@Robert_J That was point number 3 of this post. We should be getting android 15 next month.

They said they are skipping Android 14 and going straight to Android 15, but they didn’t state exactly why. Only that they talked to their partners about it before making the decision.

Yeeeeeeezzzzzzzz!!! Thank You <3

Hi @gekooktei as stated in the update :index_pointing_up:t2: “We chose the handle name @Fairphone_CM to make it easily identifiable” since there are several Fairphone employees on the Forum. I appreciate your suggestion and added “This account is managed by Lotte:” to my Profile Summary (shoutout to @urs_lesse @Meaghan )

I totally understand the reasoning, just wanted to give my two cents. Thank you for replying!

You are the 2nd case I’ve read of people in the EU having random reboots. I hope they address it on the next update.

Hi Lotte, welcome in your new role, much patience and a lot of fun

Hi @buzzdee , I appreciate your suggestion & have raised this internally a while ago, but it was decided that we sadly don’t have the resources atm to officially join the Fediverse, as it’s not just posting on a new platform but it also needs community management to support the community there. How great to see that there is this self-managed Mastodon instance fully run by the community though: About - SocialFairphoneCommunity

Hi @Ignacio thanks for sharing your concerns! I’ve escalated the related thread to CS & will get back there once I have an update.

Hi @loseyourself you can find more info here, where former Forum Manager Alon had shared about this for the first time in May.

Hi @richyboycaldo Im checking about this with CS. Most importantly: If you have an issue with your Fairphone please always use the Self Repair Portal. Ideally the issue is resolved through the easy to follow step by step troubleshooting guides. If that’s not the case you can send your Fairphone straight to repair, or open a case with our support team. It’s important that all issues that cannot be solved through the troubleshooting guides are flagged to CS this way, so that they can keep track of the number of cases and see if several customers are affected by the same issue.

@Fairphone_CM @moderators I have allowed myself to close the July and the
August update topics and linked to this one. If you think the old topics should remain open, feel free to re-open them.

Edits: I also closed the July update and Lotte closed May’s Open Letter

Thanks so much @urs_lesse & good idea, I will try to remember this for future updates, so that the conversation always stays on the most up to date topic/ thread.

Hi @Fairphone_CM!

Regarding the Fairphone 4: on this page it states that you ...also aim to provide upgrades for Android 15 and do security patching until mid 2028, but it is not confirmed yet. I was wondering, as it looks as if Android 15 will indeed be coming, does the statement I linked to mean that software support will continue until mid 2028, or is that a separate subject that needs to be confirmed?

Hello to @Fairphone_CM,

can you explain if there are a special reason, why there are no information about the progress of Android 15 for Fairphone 4 in the last three and half mons? Because the annoucement that Android 15 came for Fairphone 4 was already at July.

Best Regards,
Robert

Why is this relevant now that its announced it will come in November?

I’m sorry, but I didn’t address the question to you. I therefore don’t understand why you are responding to me.
My question is very relevant to me because the way Fairphone communicated about Android 14 and 15 for Fairphone 4 was very frustrating. And based on comments from other users, I got the impression that I’m not alone in this.
