Hello, update about my case: Murena finally sent me a new fp6 after more than a month and a half. I contacted fairphone to get a status of this known bug and they asked me some photos of my charging devices…
My experience is not bad, but also not great. I’m now without my daily driver phone for a few weeks. But the Cordon status page mentions the repair is now in progress after waiting 10 days for parts. Things could be faster. But it’s not as bad as others experienced.
I don’t understand if they are going to fix it or the “parts” are brand new phone like I got.
I guess I’ll wait and see. After “checking the phone” status it now says finished. So I guess next week I have it back.
Hello
Am I guessing right you got your phone back? Was there any diagnosis attached?
No, unfortunately not. They just send me a new device, no explanation. This is kinda sad because if they knew this issue is fatal for the FP6, they could’ve maybe send me a new device faster. I was now without my phone for almost a month. A 5 year warranty is nice, but other brands do this part a bit better.
Something else. I charge my phone during the night and use Bedtime Mode to put my phone into Do Not Disturb. If the charge is interrupted, then Do Not Disturb is disabled and notifications get through. This also includes the charge notification. I noticed with my old FP6 that during the night, at random, the phone briefly disconnects from charging. I know this, because my phone vibrates at that point because Bedtime Mode is disabled once the charge stops. These interrupts may be a symptom or cause of the sudden death. My new FP6 does this as well.
I’ll try with a different charger the coming days to see if I can reproduce it. Then at least it’s not a charger issue. Has anyone else noticed this? Of course my Bedtime Mode configuration might be unique.
I think it is not commented here, but with 15.151 software looks like slow charging works now. Tried a fast charger in my phone and remained slow.
So at least one less thing to worry. It should not die like that anymore.
Well, this is indeed concerning. I just collected my Fairphone 6 from a mailbox about a week ago.
I’ve not had any issues so far using a moderate USB AC adapter brick, as well as my original Framework 13 charger. No overheating, but what I am experiencing is some odd behavior when the phone is plugged in and charging. Like weird touch screen behavior. We’re seemingly random, double key presses, or the inability to unlock the phone with the swipe gesture.
All monitoring it to be safe, but in the best case scenario, I think maybe I got a batch with an attempted fix for the solution that introduced some other minor bugginess. At least that’s what I hope because I can deal with some minor bugginess, but I would hate to see my phone die and be out of a phone for more than a month.
I think I would be quite screwed to using lineage OS, an unofficial build, and so my bootloader is unlocked, warranty may be void…
This morning my FP6 does not turn on (I normally keep it off during nights). I am trying charging it with the usual charger but nothing happens. The phone looks dead. Help please!
Moved your post, kindly read above and contact FP support directly.
Waddup peeps, guess whos joining the gang of green fp6 owners that has a dead one now?
It’s this guy….
Had around 60% and connected to the charger, then after not looking at it for a couple minutes it just wont turn on again.. Doesn’t feel hot or whatever though.
Must be a bad green batch or something. I ordered it 18-09. Will contact support now.
I don’t think it has to do with the color. Mine was black. What kind of charger do you have and do you use eco charging? Did you have the latest update installed?
I was using latest e/OS and a 30W charger, i dont know about the eco mode, but it was the same way of charging as i did since i bought it.
Help !
My brand new Fairphone 6 regularly shuts down unexpectidly, as it did this morning, only this time it won’t turn on anymore.
I’ve tried pressing different button while pressing the on/off button, tried pressing for a shorter or longest time, nothing works.
It happened 2 hours ago.
Thanks a lot for your help !
Some other people reported something similar:
Thanks !
However my main problem is that it won’t turn on anymore… I’m not sure wheter the screen in black (I can access Whatsapp via my computer) or if the phone is off. In anycase, no phone at the moment…
Oh, my bad. In that case. I had the same, after the phone was rebooting sometimes while charging. I had to send it back to Fairphone.
Hi, thats unfortunate! We all had the same fate. Mine was also rebooting randomly and then while charging it got too hot it fried the internals. Had to send it back for (free) repairs. It was gone for 2 weeks and just got it back now. Same phone but with most of the internals swapped.
However now i am still waiting for a replacement of my screen protector and i cant get a new oem unlocking code from their website. As the s/n and Imei have changed probably? But annoying as i am still unable to use the phone as would like.
So probably the only way to fix the issue is get it repaired and hope it doesnt do it again or just dont buy a fairphone.
New member of the club here!
Had my new F6 for a week before it bricked itself overnight while charging. Loss of a week’s worth of messages, data, new client details and years worth of photos I stupidly moved over to the new phone without backing up. ![]()
I’m going to try to go down the refund route as I can’t risk this happening again with the work I do.
My F6 is black just in case anyone is wondering…
Were you running e/os or android? I thought the charging was fixed on last month’s update on android, but not sure if Murena took it to e/os or not.
When this happened to me in the transfer between androids does not delete the old phone so I had it as backup (if you still have it available maybe you lost less things). I learnt my lesson of backing up everything after that incident.
hope you can get a refund soon.
