My fairphone 6 died suddenly

I had e/os. And transferred averything manually to and from a microSD card. A lesson learned for the future! :sob::joy:

Thanks man, hopefully I’ll have a good customer service story to share soon!

hi,
just to clarify, you cannot access a SD card either?

The SD card is fine. I transferred a load of stuff off of the card and onto the phone…

Shouldn’t this be handled in firmware (or hardware)? I mean if the phone is off and fast charging, then it gets fried? What if the os has a bug, then it gets fried?

I want to buy a FP6 since weeks, but this story really frightens me…

It could be firmware or drivers, those things come under the hood of the software updates and we cannot see them. I think if you are going for Android (in Europe) the problem should not be there. If you are choosing /e/os I would stick to a non fast/slow charger and check with accu battery or any other app the power it throws if you use a fast one. But so far I think in android was fixed 2 updates ago and did not come back in the latest.
I’m supper happy with the phone I got so far.

Actually I want to use LineageOS or iodeOS… But when I update to latest stock before, it should be fine even after switching OS?

In that case is probably a matter of testing. But you will be on your own. It’s not an official software. Maybe you can ask in the thread of lineage how fast it charges and if it does get hot while doing so. I don’t know if putting those OSs voids warranty or not, if it voids it I would not take the risk.
