LineageOS 22 FP4

Can’t we have more precise feedback?

Is FP4 Lineageos 20 + MicroG Update Fairphone needed to use Wallet?

It looks like you don’t install as separate installation package during the initial flashing

The Snapdragon 750G installed in the fairphone 4 is based on the ARMv8-A architecture, which basically enables support for virtualization at EL2 (Exception Level 2). This means:

  • EL2 support:
The CPU cores used (Kryo 570 Gold derived from Cortex-A77 and Kryo 570 Silver derived from Cortex-A55) generally support operation in EL2 mode, which is used for hardware-supported virtualization (e.g. via KVM).

  • AVF (Android Virtualization Framework):**
The AVF builds on these virtualization functions to enable native virtualization of Linux environments under Android. In theory, the Snapdragon 750G therefore offers the necessary hardware requirements for AVF.

  • Practical implementation:
However, whether and to what extent these functions can actually be used depends heavily on the firmware, the bootloader and the OEM-specific adaptations. With devices such as the Fairphone 4 - which uses the Snapdragon 750G - it is therefore possible in principle to implement AVF, provided the manufacturer (OEM) enables these functions in its firmware.

In short:
The Snapdragon 750G technically supports EL2 and thus provides the basis required for the Android Virtualization Framework. However, the actual use of AVF on a device depends on the specific OEM implementations.

After yesterdays update this issue has returned.
(Lineageos 22.1, Android 15, 9 april 2025.)

And after the update on 2025-04-16 it works. Thanks again to whoever puts in the fix!

But after this weeks update this issue has returned again.
(Lineageos 22.2, Android 15, 30 april 2025.)

After that update though i’ve been missing the buttons to move the cursor right and left that were on either side of the back/home/recent buttons. Instead i now have a globe button on the right of the recent button. I remember i had to use a toggle in settings to activate this but i can’t find it now.

Also the home button does not seem to react to every touch.

No change after yesterdays update.
(Lineageos 22.2, Android 15, 23 april 2025.)

Since the update to 22.2 (which I installed for the first time as lineage-22.2-20250423), I have a severe degradation in battery life. With my usage I had no problem running more than 24 hours on a fully charged battery but now I can barely reach 10 hours (even without using it).

Anyone else having this problem too?

I’ve been using LineageOS for a long time on my FP4 without any problem before. I’ve read the related post about battery degradation after the FPOS update to Andriod 13: FP4 battery life got worse after Android 13 update and tried several thing mentioned there such as disabling 5G, disabling mobile data, disabling Wi-Fi and even disabling my SIM cards fully. Also in battery saving mode the time is way less than it was before the update.

After todays update charging control works as expected, thanks again!

The home button does not seem to miss touches any longer.

The buttons to move the cursor right and left that were on either side of the back/home/recent buttons are still missing though.

After yesterdays update charging control disables charging until it’s turned off and on again when the set limit is reached.

The home button seems ok still.

The buttons to move the cursor right and left that were on either side of the back/home/recent buttons are still missing.

This is not a bug. The buttons are gone with the update from LineageOS 22.1 to 22.2 until somebody reimplements them from scratch, which is seen as unlikely for now … Arrow keys in navigation bar vanished, option to enable them is vanished too (#8757) · Issues · LineageOS / issues / android · GitLab

There are keyboards you can install which implement such buttons, see for instance Left and right cursor buttons = arrow keys = navbar arrow setting ... might be gone soon-ish - #2 by Baggypants - Settings - /e/OS community

I see, thank you for looking into that!

After yesterdays update charging control works again. Thanks as always!

I have exactly the same issue. FP4 on Lineage 22.2, huge battery drain. I thougt it was the battery so ordered a new one, but that doesn’t help at all…

Thanks for replying. It’s strange that not many people seem to be affected…

I’ve tried many things, among which a factory reset and even a full wipe and reinstall of lineage.

In the end, I compared eOS and CalyxOS and decided to give CalyxOS a try. That finally resolved the battery problem. I think it’s even a little bit better than it was before the lineage 22.2 update.
