I’ve got this shiny new FP6 and want to install The E/OS. I was let to believe it was easy.
But the more I read, the more there seems to be all those troubles and difficulties. I’m not very technical. So I start wondering, is this something I should even try to do?
Are there people any who have succesfully installed, without running into problems?

If you are hesitating to do it on your own, why didn’t you bought it with e/OS preinstalled? What are you expecting from this swap anyway? With a degoogled OS not everything will work out of the box, so even after a successful install, you might have to work further on it.
My last phone was murena one, and I was quite pleased with it. Till it broke down.
I did want a preinstalled, But there where financial reasons. And I thought that doing it myself would improve my connection with my phone. I want the e/os because I think it’s the more ethical choice. You know: like being vegan, sometimes there is nothing to eat but you contribute to a better world.
I do have someone to help me, to install. But when I see that people are for example a week busy getting it done, That would be to big an ask.
The thing is, when a look at your post ‘safe guide to install,..’ . All the replies are about trouble. Maybe lots of people didn’t have problems, so they didn’t post. But I wondered. does it ever go smooth?
Yes for sure it can go smooth, however really no one can give you a guarantee. At the momemt I would not recommomend the installer. Maybe the person who will help you can read the install guide and decide what they think about it
What is wrong with the installer?

This winter I bought an Fairphone 6 with e/OS/ Murena. I still keep my IPhone 8 and IPad because not everything is easy to understand. It is an going on proces to work with Murena en to be de-googled.
The installation instruction you get from Fairphone is not so clear. I have to learn to communicatie via “fairphone forum” and “Murena forum”. All in Englisch, The laguage I not speak every day.
I choose for the Fairphone because they try to make a better product for every body. I choose for Murena because it is European and I want myself to be de-Googled.
To understand everything of the install proces I googled a lot on my I pad. Installing the apps by the App Lounge is easy. But outside the reach of wifi I did not receive any sound out of my podcast and spoken newspaper articles. That was very annoying. Then someone on the Fairphone forum write: try the “settings of the APN for Fairphone 4 at KPN”. KPN is my Dutch telecom provider. I had to put on by APN-protocol /Pv4/Pv6. After that it worked.
Now I have a problem with Murena. After de last two updates I didn’t received any mail and to send mail didn’t also not work. I think there is someone in the Murena platform who has connections with Murena of maybe works there. Hé is trying to help us. Now my e-mail works perfect but other apps are not stable anymore. Maybe I schould de- install and then install then again. I don’t know.
After all I am glad with my Fairphone and the European provider. We have to give Europe a change to develop this area. But is is not the easy way.
I didn’t receive any spam on my Fairphone 6 /e/OS/ by Murena. That is very very nice.

Succesfully installed. But we had to fall back to manual install.

vanmiddag is de e/os installatie op mijn FP6 gelukt.
het lukte echt niet met de easy installer maar we hebben het manual gedaan. (ik had hulp).
Eerder had ik de murena one, een telefoon die murena zelf uitbracht. Daar had ik eigenlijk nooit problemen mee tot ie kapot ging.
Ik vond deze nieuwe applounge eigenlijk wel wat ingewikkelder dan die oude. Verder heb ik er nog niets opgedaan, ga nu eerst even bijkomen van het spannende instaleren. misschien tot ziens op het forum.

There are still things to learn for me. For example. When I have an issue with my Fairphone or my Murena account, I schould earlier take a look at the Fairphone and Murena forum. Until now I wait to long to do that. My first reaction is: pff. what is happening, I cannot see and touch the problem. I am not growing up witch computer stuff, I am 69 years.
It is nice to read on de forum that I not the only one. The good thing on the forum is that you reach more people to solve the problem with.

I ( actually we) had just successfully installed e/os on FP6, didn’t go smooth, but we managed it, and I was exhausted.
I planned to post in english, but it just came out differently.
I guess I have to apologise, I mixed the original poster and as you was the original poster, you can for sure change language if you like. I can add the language flags for EN and NL.
Haha, when I read your post thought I’m so happy I"m not the only one with language trouble. I’m 67.
I find the forum very intimidating. Very usefull also, I could have not done the install without their information. But they leave out a lot of things. Things you are supposed to know but you don’t.
I think the forum people think people like me should go with the preinstalled. but I first studied the forum, and only half understood. After the install i understand it better, Progress! I wish i had another FP6, to do it again. But i m not going to risk it, i"m very relieved to have an working phone now.
Still: how is murena going to conquer the world when they can’t simplify down?
