🇳🇱 Help with installing e/OS/

Moving from the Fairphone edition of the Gogol version of Android to the /e/ edition of the Lineage version of Android Open Source Project will be an around one hour job, and then you will be able to continue to play with you usual applications…(except some banking)
A safe guide to install /e/OS on your Fairphone

.

Moving from Microsoft Windows to any GNU Linux is another achievement !

If you cannot simply add a new drive into your computer (the best possible configuration)

  1. I recommend that you first of all fdisk your drive using Microsoft tools, to check and fix possible errors.
  2. So when booting a “linux live” (DVD or USB), you will be able to safely use “gparted” to reduce the windows system partition size,
  3. still using “gparted”, in the newly not allocated free space create 3 partitions
  • for the root system usage (/),
  • for swap exchange (double of your RAM),
  • for the human users usage (/home), apps and datas
  1. and finally install the Linux system in the newly created partitions.

That way you will be able to enjoy “Dual Boot” : starting the PC you can choose between Windows or Linux…

Note : i am personally used to create an additionnal partition for personnal documents storage (i choose an universal format to be able to access it from any OS)

Discovering GNU Linux, and the desktop environnement of your choice (i like MATE), you will have to discover new applications to do all task you are used to do with your PC. (except Web Surfing)
