Hi. I’ve been using a Fairphone for close to 6 months now, and I’ve had my share of troubles with the camera. Though nowadays I haven’t noticed any pictures missing since the update that fixed it, I have noticed something else.
The first and easier to explain: closing the camera app disables the 50MP option, so every time I want to take a high quality picture, I have to manually activate it. Every. Single. Time. Wouldn’t it be better to have it stay active, have a toggle to make it stay active, or give the camera a 50MP setting like Portrait and Video?
Second, when taking pictures with zoom, randomly, the picture doesnt show what the preview shows. It’s usually only the middle of it that gets saved and not the whole preview, but sometimes it moves to a side. This makes taking pictures with zoom really unreliable.
The left picture is the door I wanted to take a picture of for comparison, and the right one is a picture i took a few steps back with x2 zoom since I was pretty far. In the preview, I could see the door’s number and part of the emblem with zoom active, but when the pic was taken, only the door itself was saved (with even worse detail retention).
I thought it’d be some sort of “AI” deciding what’s worth to save from the pictures I take but when I checked the settings, the only related option “AI Scene Detection” was disabled.
Has anyone else experienced this? It’s really driving me mad because I can’t take any pictures with zoom due to the fear of the photo not showing the whole scene I tried to capture.
