Hi, I’ve configured the stock camera of my FP6 with the 50MP picture size. But always when I close the camera app, or switch to another app (e.g. Gallery, but any other app is the same) the picture size in the setting gets resetted to standard. And I need to re-adjust it again manually to the 50MP resolution.
Anyone else who has noticed this issue? Bug or feature?
I’m on FP.QREL.15.105.0 with the OS and camera app is version v8.01.01.0009.4.1
I have the Same Problem Here.
Did you try to delete the app-data of the camera-app already? It’s not very likely it would help but worth a shot!
Yes, that’s what I tried first, before opening a topic here.
Seems like a bug, I also have this problem
Same problem here.
And, quite often but not always, when taking a picture with de 50 MB picture size, the app freezes, the picture is not saved and it’s necessary to close and restart it (reseted to standard).
Same camera app and OS version than mike_1312.
Can confirm this, happened also 2-3 times here.
Same behavior to report.
As 50MP and zoom don’t go together it might have been a deliberate choice by the devs, assuming that most users will prefer standard size + zoom.
Doesn’t account for the saving problems though. Haven’t experienced these by now.
It’s not, that the zoom doesn’t work in this modus, I’ve noticed that already and it’s OK for me.
But what’s really annoying for me, is the situation that the setting always resets itself back to standard resolution.
To be honest, if a have a setting that’s adjustable in an app, I expect the setting to be stored when changed.
Well contact Fairphone to ask if intended or bug and my assumption is, its intended…
same problem with mine
Same here.
Seems there’s a lot of work needed to be done on the camera app.
This is something that I dont like. Fairphone, I need a fair camera app in too
versie v8.01.01.0009.5.0

It does it on FP5. So its a feature. Not sure if i ever saw a message or something saying why it changes back. Just remembered i think one gets a notification if you try and zoom, saying zoom n/a.
Btw i had a quick search online for general Android phones, it depends on the make for a setting to be permanently on highest MP.
Just played around with Camera app on FP5. I see there is a bottom menu photo | video | Full Pixel. Full pixel is 50MP. Not sure if it appears there as a default or because that is last change one did.
Look i added pano. I already had full pixel added. Most of done that some time ago. HERE’S how click 3 horizontal lines in bottom left. Then you get screenshot above select top right icon square with pen. Then you can add which options into quick menu by touch , hold and drag to space below.
{Do you want another screenshot ?}
Kindly dont mix with FP5 screenshots without clearly indicating this. And all this is not the same on the FP6.
However also on the FP5 or FP4 its not possible to fix it to 50MP forever, when you close the App its reset as well.
Sorry. I thought Android OS wasn’t changed much on these phones.
Well the Camera App is no Google App and has nothing really to do with the Android System
Yes looks like, and I am afraid it will take some time to get improvements in the camera app. I tested in the last couple of days and settings like “automatic HDR” lead to real bad results, pictures with edges around buildings and people, switching to 50MP delivers larger pictures but with the same blurry and noisy effects. For the moment I am really disappointed. I give the ff6 a couple of weeks for testing, but I do not resell my old phone, yet, maybe I switch back, a good working camera app is essential for me.
