You have a 5 Years warranty and there is a trouble shooting tool > Fairphone 5 > Stability > Fairphone 5 only: the Fairphone 5 is stuck at boot. You fill in your data and may wait for any reaction. Or wait at least, that Fairphone removes the malicious update from their download site, as I do. Will not last for years, I still hope….
Thank you for your reply :), I don’t mind sending it in for repairs. The problem is that it looks online that them replying at my request (via the tool) can take weeks.

Update for people as desperate as me:
As I urgently need my phone I sat for hours rebooting it, taking the battery out, pressing every possible combination of keys. I must have done several 100 rounds of reboots and at some point yesterday managed to get into safe mode which let me save the data I hadn´t saved before and today I even managed to start my phone normally. My fingerprint sensor is still not working, I am still on Android 15 and I am extremely afraid my phone might restart at some point, but so far it is working. The only thing that I can think of that might explain it is that the fingerprintsensor has some kind of loose contact and by pressing it hard/long enough/in the right way it shortly magically works and let´s Android reboot 
. No idea if that is true but I don´t have any other explainiation
Hi, is there an ETA of an A15 version that fixes the boot problem? I need to get my phone working again urgently.
i had the same problem, my fingerprint sensor stopped working some month ago, could’t find a way to fix it, i didnt recall breaking the phone but i assumed it was how it happened, since assistance couldn’t help, now if i get it right, it wasn’t my fault? could it be some software error? i realize it just now by reading your comments, i have the same problem but yesterday by miracle it started working by doing many many tries of reboot, i supposed in the end it started through volume up + power pressed together. unfortunaltely today it went off and i can’t start it again that way. i tried the 8 times reboot holding power for 15 sec without any result.
i’m also noticing my phone gets hot while trying to reboot

The power button/fingerprint sensor is replaceable, but requires substantial disassembly and heat. The power button is not yet available for purchase. iFixit recommendation to make it replaceable and available for purchase has been ignored, even with Fairphone 6 as far as I can see Repairability Snapshot Fairphone 5 - iFixit Thus Fairphone has to solve the issue and begin to communicate about it to reduce further harm to the brand.
Unfortunately the most difficult part to replace is the one that’s causing the majority of issues. I’d really like to know how many users with broken fingerprint sensor are there. It seems that we are many. To make things worse, there are users that are waiting a response to the ticket for months.
Replacing the sensor is not my question.
My question is about the connections of the sensor.
@Keneda In the other topic, a couple of users said that they tried to reach the sensor or at least the connection, but without luck. Fingerprint stopped working, setting completely gone
I personally tried, but it seems embedded into the metal frame with no connector visible.
As I read in the iFixit paper, the sensor is inaccessible.
You can see at page 15 here Fairphone Schematics - iFixit that there are flat cables going from the buttons directly to the PCB, all of them glued to the metal flame.
I personally didn’t want to go further, since my phone is still under warranty.
First, thanks for the schematics, didn’t find it myself.
Second, as we can see, it is possible to pop out the main board, so there must be so connection between the frame where relies the fingerprint sensor power button and the main board.
I talk about those connections from the beginning.
Third I understand that someone can be afraid to go this deep into unassembly and prefer to wait for guarantee support.

Hello everyone! I have had this issue 3 times in the last few days. Frequent reboots worked for me the first couple of times, however the Android version seemed to say it was operating on Android 15 after this reboot. It seems to happen without my input at night and I wake up to the green screen with the white line. Today reboots haven’t worked and I cannot get it to boot at all.
If I do manage to get it to reboot this time is there something I can do to stop it from repeating this issue?
Because it appears to be in Android 15 it is unclear to me if it is trying to update at night which is starting the issue again or if it is something else.
Any thoughts or advice on this would be really appreciated thanks

If you do manage to boot the phone again, try putting it in Aeroplane mode for the night.
Normally phones don’t reboot by themselves and without permission, except after downloading an update. In that case, I always reboot as soon as the phone is ready, but if one doesn’t, then the phone reboots anyway at 2.00 A.M. It looks to me as though this is what’s happening to yours (it still thinks it has to reboot after the update), or there may be some other software problem.
Did you encounter the Fingerprint sensor problem that seems to be behind most of the cases here?

I updated a few days ago and everything had been working well. Today while charging my phones fingerprint reader stopped working. I tried restarting it and now I am stuck in the same boot loop with the light green I.
Not sure if this is the same issue. (If I should go to different thread please let me know) Not sure what to do tho. Cant even oem unlock the phone and sideloading only seems to works for FP3/ 3+, please correct me if I am wrong. So even if there is a new update, I am not sure how to get it on the phone.
Has anyone who has not been able to get out of the boot loop found a solution?

With A15 there must be something that prevents booting if fingerprint sensor got “tempered”… and this not only at first boot after update, but at every boot.
