I downloaded and installed the newest software update onmy Fairphone 5 today. After it finished this process, it asked me to either “restart now” or “restart at 2am”, or something along those lines. This was entirely normal and as usual. I chose “restart now”. The phone turned off. After a while, the black startup screen appeared, as it normally would, and then proceeded to the blue “Fairphone - change is in your hands” screen. And it stayed there. For much, much longer than usual. I did not check how long, because i put down the phone and plugged in the charger (even though the battery charge was around 80% at the time). It must have stayed on the blue screen for at least 10 minutes. Confused, i went and picked up the phone, and, after googling, tried to boot it into safe mode. This worked. I chose the “start” option and confirmed. Then, again, it showed the blue screen. For way too long. After a while, since nothing was happening, i turned it off with a long press of the power button. Now, every time i try to turn on the device, the same process repeats. Black screen → black screen with fairphone writing and android logo (you know the one) → blue screen. It then stays on the blue screen. As i am writing this, it’s still on the blue screen, with no signs of activity. I would be incredibly thankful for any advice and tips of any kind, as i am heavily dependant on the phone working properly.
Some information i think might be relevant:
Model: Fairphone 5
Software: Standard software. I did not install any third party OS or similar, only apps through google play store
Bought: less than one year ago, through online reseller
Battery status when problem occurred: not charging, charge around 80%
SD Card: yes, only photos stored on it
The software was always updated ASAP when an update dropped
I am entirely lost on what to do, as i can’t even access the safe boot option anymore. I’d really like to avoid any data loss as well, if possible. Sadly i cannot reach the Fairphone live chat, as they are only active for a suprisingly short duration, on only a few days a week.
