Hi, I had a case maybe similar to this one:
- I’m abroad (in EU, so I have 30Go included in Euro zone)
- the hostel offers Wi-Fi, so I disabled mobile data for my operator (I have a single SIM)
- and then I connected to Wi-Fi
- I took the opportunity to update the apps and the OsmAnd maps.
- Surprise! I got an Android notification telling me I crossed the threshold of 10Go (which I configured) of mobile data consumption.
- It turned out I was out of range for Wi-Fi
- But surprisingly, even with no connectivity according to the Android UI, it still used mobile data.
- I tested again later without the Wi-Fi step, and it happened again.
- If I switch to Flight Mode and leave Flight Mode, then I have no connectivity as expected. (that’s the work-around)
It could potentially be catastrophic: let say I am in Switzerland, not in EU, I may be billed (0.06€/Mo) if the phone does not actually disabled mobile data.
I did not investigate yet ifi it is an Android issue or a problem with Fairphone version.
