Hi Fairphone Community
Unfortunately, I don’t know what to do. My Fairphone 5 has had several bugs for half a year now that I can’t solve.
To the bug description
- the app switcher for gesture control does not work:
If you want to change the app using the gesture control (swipe right/left over the bottom bar), the correct app does not appear. Sometimes none at all and a field appears at the bottom with App isn’t available and sometimes a pop-up appears with quickstep keeps stopping. - if you drag the bar upwards and hold it to go to the overview of the currently open apps, it automatically scrolls to the very last entry (i.e. the app that has not been used for the longest time). Sometimes you can’t scroll any further and are trapped on this app in the overview.
- the widgets on the home screen do not update automatically. Only a swipe from bottom to top with the gesture control updates the widgets.
- the Google Assistant cannot be called up when the display is black. If the phone is locked but the display is on, it can be called up.
The first 3 problems are probably due to Quickstep not working properly. I use a Coustem Louncher (KISS). A friend of mine with the same phone and the same Louncher has no problems. Of course you can now say Coustum Louncher doesn’t work. But as I said, it works for a friend and the problem seems to be with the underlying Android (Quickstep). The Google assistent issue persists with our without costum launcher.
What I have tried:
- other launchers: the issues are the same with every other launcher I’ve tried (Nova, etc). With the standard Quckistep launcher, the controls seem to work at first. The Quckistep Louncher is unfortunately not an option for me.
- check almost all settings on my phone (incl.: battery saving options for louncher and quckistep, etc.). I have also activated everything for the Google Assistant so that it should work like this and checked it several times)
- perform a complete reset
- reflash Fairphone OS manually
nothing has helped the problem persists and is very frustrating. As I said the problems have persisted for half a year I have really put a lot of time into it hoping that Fairphone OS updates would eventually fix it. I assume at this point that the problem may be in the hardware, because the device works exactly the same for others and there is really nothing to be found on the internet about the problem. I know that you don’t have to support Coustem Louncher but it seems very strange to me if all Coustem Louncher show exactly the same error
