Fairphone 6 on /e/OS – Bluetooth, calls, apps

Hello everyone,

I’ve recently started using the Fairphone 6 with /e/OS, and I’m running into several issues that I can’t seem to solve:

Bluetooth audio: No sound at all when connected, except for the pairing sound. I’ve tried with Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, three different Bluetooth speakers, and a car system – same result.

Phone calls: The person I’m speaking with often struggles to hear me properly. As soon as I’m outside, they mainly hear the surrounding noise (people around me very loud, my voice much less).

Apps:

The ChatGPT app is not accessible.

Some banking apps are unavailable (I saw there is already a dedicated topic for this).

Has anyone faced similar problems or found solutions/workarounds? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure your phone’s operating system is up to date.

Since you’re using /e/OS you might also like to look around and maybe ask over in the Murena forum. For example,

My OS is up to date and, unfortunately, i’ve not found anything usefull in the topics that already exists…

In that case, I would advise you to ask in the Murena forum, or use the chat room to contact e support.

I use a hearing aid from Phonak/Sonova; when connected to FP6 (eos stripped of Google) the phone doesn’t ring; I miss the call; a total show stopper; as long as this bug hasn’t been fixed, I’m on my old iphone; ot’d been two months now.

Bank apps and National ID app (mitid) of Denmark all dont work

One exception Alpian Bank (tested) and properly UBS too (download)

Welcome to the Fairphone community forum.

I think your problem can likely only be addressed by Murena (see my post above), but you might have a look at the settings for your specific Bluetooth device (Device details). If there is a “Phone calls” option, make sure that it’s enabled.

That’s just a guess, I don’t have a phone running a recent version of /e/OS.

Use the browser instead the app

It is possible to use banking apps.

We managed to solve some issues here in the forum.

For example debiX and Aternative Bank Switzerland works perfectly fine.

I tried; found a hearing aid option even, and reinstalled too, but no improvement; phone doesn’t ring; neither on the FP6 - nor on hearing aids. Vibration and flash light works, but that’s not good enough; a phone that doesn’t ring… j

Maybe its the transfer Form IPhone to Fairphone.

Did you download the Apps again via AppLounge?

My Swiss banking apps work fine:

ABS Mobile / ABS DebiX+ / ABS-Twint

I dont use proton calender, but my Proton Mail-App and the Proton-VPN-App work without problems. All the usual Swiss apps work fine (SBB / Meteo / Threema, etc…)

But the biggest problem right now; I miss all calls, because the phone doesn’t ring, when connected via bluetooth to my hearing aid; a known problem apparently; are you able to use earphones via bluetooth?

I havent used any headphones yet, but Bluetooth works for data transfer and connecting to external speakers.

I noticed something strange; in notifications settings the handel for the phone switch on, but the color is grey, not green as the other app…what is this caused by?

That’s normal. It’s not possible to disable notifications of some specific apps.

Hi,

I am considering buying the Fp6 in the e/OS Version also living in Denmark. Have you been able to use MitID by now and your banking app?

nobe; not able; those kind of critical apps are still on my iPhone

I manage to move Threema though; with reduced functionality

Next I’m trying how Volla Quintus with Volla OS works out, but so far it’s been quite cumbersome; haven’t even been able to install a single app yet.

Next on the list would be Punkt. Smartphone produced in Germany by a former Siemens (Gigaset) factory; owner is Chinese though; expected in Q4 2025.

All in all more expensive than newest iPhone, but freedom comes at a cost.

What kind of “reduced functionality”? I’ve been using Thema for a long time on /e/OS already and I’ve never had the impression that there’s any reduced functionality.

To quote long press the message. Then the quote symbol should appear at the top right:

Tap on this symbol and the quoted text appears on top of the answer. Doesn’t this work in your case?
