I don’t lock the screen right after taking a pic. Also, it wasn’t an issue on my FP5. In any case it’s not a user issue. Locking the screen should not kill the camera app or its processing of photos. Your music also just plays perfectly fine after locking it.
Reads like a contradiction.
It also reads as if you think I say there is no issue or you user are causing this.
As said, FP needs data points to investigate, also those not experiencing the issue, so my comment is as stated a note, based on the topic comments and my use case. The point it differs, doesnt make yours wrong or mine right, its just another comment.
I don’t define the delay between taking the pictures and locking the screen. But I can to clear it up. I took many pictures this weekend. Only half were saved. I took many with a long pauze in between. Still, all pics in that unlocked session were not saved. So it’s not that I lock the screen right away. I lock it after taking pics.
Do you take a lot of pics? I notice the gap in saved pics is more clear when taking a lot of pics.
No, I tried it again today. Just took one picture with the double-press-button-feature with locked phone. The photo wasnt saved.
While taking photos from the lock screen is one way to trigger the issue, I’ve also observed it when using the camera app directly. The longer the phone has been on without rebooting, the more likely this becomes, to the point that a phone left on for 2 weeks without reboot will fail to save almost all pictures. Rebooting fixes the problem for a few days.
Are you aware of this problem @anon76468197, @Alon_Brandt?
The level of frustration may be high by loosing fotos of precious moments.
That’s good to know. I only use the shortcut to activate the camera. So maybe it’s a RAM issue.
I’ve also had this same issue when using the app directly, specially when taking photos in 50 MP mode (I don’t remember having it with the 12 MP).
After loosing some pictures, now I wait until the photo shows in the small circle before taking another one or closing the app. It’s annoying and frustrating.
I reproduced the issue as well when taking a picture after opening the app from the launcher. I actually opened the preview when it was loading and pooffff, no photo. Almost as if the image processing is killed. I suspect some sort of very sensitive OOM killer. Since some apps such as music apps are sometimes also killed randomly when using the camera.
Hi all,
Thank you for flagging this issue. I am going to get more information internally on this topic and will get back to you once I know more.
Thanks for your patience and for being part of this community. ![]()

Same here - have this issue when opening from the launcher OR from the lock screen.
I have the same issue, I’ve mainly noticed it when taking pictures from the lock screen and then relocking the phone. If I unlock it to open the picture right away usually it is there.
Lately i have encountered an issue with the default camera app that it shows you taking a photo, but if you look in the photos app that there is nothing there.
Did anyone else encounter this issue? I had it three times today already. It feels like the issue happens when you take a photo and immediately after lock the phone or close the app, but i am not 100% sure
In case you don’t know yet, photos are usually saved in a folder called DCIM. You might want to check if the shots are there. If they are, this might be an issue concerning the Photos app and the Google cloud.
I only use the photos app to check local photos, but i dont have Google Cloud enabled, instead I backup photos to my local network storage.
I also checked the dcim folders, and the photos are not in there either.
Thank you for merging the topics
3 posts were split to a new topic: FP6 Camera issues
I was also experiencing the missing photos issue before. I changed the battery restriction to unrestricted (from default optimized).
Now it seems the image processing continues until finished and so far I did not miss any pictures.
Maybe some of you experiencing the issue could check that setting, test it and let us know?
Where can we find this setting? I can try it as well, see if I still encounter the issue.
Can you still do that on Android 15? I cannot find these settings in the usual spot, like on Android 14. Only “Allow background usage”, which is enabled for the Camera app. It seems like it’s enabled for most apps. I haven’t found an app with it disabled.
The setting I changed can be found under Settings - Apps - See all apps - Camera - App battery usage - Allow battery usage (the switch is on, then tap on the text itself) - set to Unrestricted.
