There have been two occasions now where I take photos with the FP6, but when I get back to them a bit later, most of them aren’t in the camera app or in Google Photos. For instance, yesterday I was running some tests on a computer, taking a photo of each test result on the screen as it completed. I must have taken 6 or 7 photos, but I ended up with only one. A few days ago I took some shots of something outside, same story.
Anyone else experiencing something similar? I’m on FP6.QREK 15.91.0 and there are no updates available to apps or system.
I guess you’re using the default Google settings? The Google photos app summarizes similar photos that were taken behind each other. Your screenshots for sure look pretty similar. If you tap onto the photo once, then you’ll see a list of all photos collected under the one photo that you still see. And there you also have options to disable that feature.
I’ve had this issue. What seems to be happening is when I open the last taken photo it is hanging with “Processing…”, which it never finishes. So must give up and the picture doesn’t appear in the gallery. It may still exist on the filesystem though.
Hi Martin,
Thank you for responding. I am aware of that functionality, but that’s not what’s happening here I think, as I don’t see the photos stacked. And I think I should still see them unstacked in the camera app itself, even if they are stacked in Google Photos?
Thank you, both for welcoming me and for answering. Maybe this is indeed what’s happening, that something goes wrong with processing. I can’t find those photos on the file system at the moment, though, maybe it doesn’t get to the point where the photos are actually saved.
This also happened to me the in first couple of days of using the phone, when I took a photo and opened it from the camera itself, the photo was stuck on processing for 30 seconds or so and then it just disappeared. Happened with 3 or 4 photos.
But in the last few days it seems to have fixed itself as I didn’t lose any more photos, kinda strange, but happy
Hi everyone,
I took a lot of photos with the Fairphone 6 while on vacation. I think the battery life is really good compared to the Fairphone 5.
But the camera app keeps letting me down. Sometimes some pictures that were definitely taken are simply missing. After a few pictures, it works again. Once the app crashed so badly that I couldn’t do anything on the smartphone and had to do a hard restart.
The missing pictures are very annoying if you rely on your camera. Does anyone have the same problem or have a tip? I didn’t have such errors with the Fairphone 5.
Regards
There have been reports of a problem using the stock Camera app in A15 which leads to the Photos and other gallery apps not seeing your photos for a while after they were taken.
Open the Files app and go to
Internal storage>DCIM>Camera
You may see more photos than in the Photos app.
No problems seen using alternative camera app such as Open Camera.
I’ve just encountered this problem. The photo I took wasn’t present in the files, it seems to have just disappeared into the void.
Details on what happened:
Take a picture
Immediately attempt to send the picture to a friend via signal
Picture appears as blank in the image browser
Picture appears as blank with an uploading symbol in the photos app
Picture then disappears entirely from the camera roll when I attempt to investigate
Same here, about 10% of photos that were taken randomly disappear, sometimes multiple photos taken after another. Feels a bit like photo app is crashing while saving, also since sometimes taking a picture reboots the phone… Now using Open Camera instead, cannot have holiday pictures randomly disappear into the void.
Can confirm this is happening, even without sharing the photo.
From the lockscreen I double press the power button, take a photo with volume button and then lock, the photo is not there (it does not happen all the time, but often enough to be a problem)
I did not notice it was happening until an important photo was missing :(.
This is the usual flow I used to do with other phones so, locking right after the photo is taken should retain the photos, right?
At the moment, I switched to SGCam, which is the only GCam port that seems to support the double power press shortcut (BSG wasn’t working)
