Looks like they are using the same protective case as what you can buy from them for some time already, but with leather around it. My wife has the Biowaves protective case for months (or is it already a year?) around her phone. The first one broke when it dropped onto the tiled floor in the bathroom, sacrificing itself for the phone which remained undamaged. It was replaced for free and since then there’s nothing special to report about it anymore. It just does what it should do.
With the leather around it I expect this to be an even better bumper.
Thank you Tom
@T4om
All the best

I’m not sure if your question was answered already, but the Biowaves cover has a lanyard hook add-on. It’s very expensive imo but this combo sounds like it would fit your needs exactly:
Hi,
still expensive but slightly cheaper when purchased in a bundle
Ah, that makes a lot of sense ![]()
Thanks so much for this rec. I’m investigating. Meanwhile it might be nice to see FP add this accessory. Useful in all sorts of hands-free situations, esp for better security.
Just some update. I originally got the barksweden case but… It just broke after a year. One of the corners just gave up ![]()
but they now sell cases with reinforced corners yay!
Anyway, I got a biowaves case instead. First impressions:
10/10 packaging. Even the shipping packaging for it is compostable and the packaging for the case itself is fully made out of paper so it is recyclable! (Don’t ask why I opened it like that)
The case gets on the phone very easily but comes of very hardly which is also very good.
It has a little extra bump on it to make it stay flat on a table which is a great detail from them.
I got the blue version and it looks great so I will use this till it breaks ![]()
Also their support is phenomenal.
I wrote them because I could not select Hungary as the delivery country. Their support came back me a few hours later with: “Hello ____. We are pleased to announce that we have set up shipping to Hungary. Hungary is now available as a shipping destination.”
After this I could easily order it and it arrived in just 3 days, I recommend it to everyone ![]()
The new case looks good as well.
However, you could have tried to glue the wood corner back. I broke my wood case once and glued it back, and it kept perfectly for a long time until I got the Tudia case (around a camping trip where I found the wood was not going to be ideally suited to less than perfectly dry circumstances)
Unlike super glue and plastics, wood glue and wood can really give great and long lasting results.
I already tried gluing it back but I am not really got at this and it broke off again in a week
i guess the wood had become dirty, grease and other substances. a wood glue connection is often even stronger than a natural wood connection.
have you tried dissolving the grease a little bit, ammonia or pure alcohol?
plastic is often difficult. a glue connection is usually a weak spot.
Replying here to add that the current case is nice and not bulky, but I would like a booklet style case like the one available for the FP4. I like to keep a couple of cards there, and it’s also great for screen protection.
Welcome to the community forum.
This here was mentioned earlier …
… and it seems they are available in the meantime … FairPhone 5 hoesje kopen? FairPhone 5 cases op GSMpunt.nl
That one looks good indeed.
Hi. I’m new to Fairphone, and I thought I saw another wood case recommended in this thread besides Bark’s but having checked through the thread I now can’t see it. Could it have been an FP3 or 4 case?
I’m looking for a case with bumpers sturdy enough for drops onto concrete and which won’t overheat if I use it when charger is plugged in and I’m outside (my hands don’t work like they should so dropping phones on concrete is a regular event and I won’t be able to replace the case every time, and don’t manage lanyards or wrist straps).
Biowaves looks good but really pricey and might not last more than a few drops.
I’m also thinking about a 3d printed design - anyone got a suggestion of where to find someone to print it?
I have an upscreen protector on order (thanks to whoever posted the link.
Hello
I think Tudia case might be a good fit for you.
Depending on your location, you can try from the brand directly or via Amazon. Check this thread for pictures, links and reviews.
May I ask why a lanyard is not an option? Feel free to ignore this question:)
FP5 is said to be quite sturdy, and tudia is a good case but still dropping a phone on a concrete is always risky.
I would also recommend a popsocket or a ring, at least for me the phone is definitely too big and cannot operate it without such items
Tulia case looks good but it’s not made from anything recycled or eco-friendly and you can’t get used ones. Pop sockets or ring would unfortunately be a nightmare for me because anything involving twisting my wrist is.
I am probably going to get some kind of mount/stand and adapt it so I keep it in place using the weight of my left arm or attaching to my wrist brace- the question is what protection it needs when removed from that, so I was hoping another wood option existed.
If dropping on concrete is a regular event, a wood case wouldn’t give the same protection as the Tudia case which is really excellent. If you intend to use your phone for five years or more, a case which will last as long seems a sustainable option regardless if new or second hand? I’m fairly certain the Tudia case is the single best case on the market right now for FP5.
I am the proud owner of a new Fairphone 5 since yesterday. Very happy with it.
Deliberately chose a transparent version so you can see the inside right away. Will undoubtedly generate reactions with which I can then promote the FairPhone ![]()
But the question I have: Now I would like to buy a protective case to protect the phone but these do not come in a transparent version.
If I buy a case that is available then the transparent back of my phone has no added value.
If I don’t use a case the chance of damage when dropped is much higher. Despite the fact that I am very careful with my belongings, an accident is in a small corner.
Wondering how you would solve this?

Hello !
I also decided to go for the transparent FP5, I like it and it reminds me of my now-retired transparent FP2 (nostalgy)
Fairphone does not provide transparent back cover.
However you can buy third-party (non-fair) transparent back covers, there are at least 3 different providers according to this topic:
Search for “transparent” keyword in this (long) topic and you’ll find some pictures and user experiences ![]()
