I’ve had my fairphone 5 for 3 years now, and have had to replace the battery twice and the usb c port.
I used my FP5 as my work phone and for the first 2 years it has been great. Now in it’s 3rd year it has started to glitch and slow down. WiFi drop outs, getting stuck in landscape mode, calls dropping, just a lot of performance issues. Restarting and resetting to factory specs only work for a short time.
With the hardware and software glitches I can’t see me using this phone for much longer just for it’s unreliability.
Has anyone else experienced these issues and did you fix them?
Hello
My FP5 is just getting ready fot its third birthday and the main issue I am experiencing is the recent button not always responding
Judging from the lack of follow up posts I might be a bit of an outlier here.
I did two factory resets this year (the phone got repaired twice) but these were more of hardware issues (fingerprint scanner, missed loose connector).
If I may, I would suggest more troubleshooting (how old is the SIMcard, do you use the SD card, who’s your provider, have they recently changed the network settings, etc.)
I have used various providers Vodafone, EE, O2 and Lebara, SIM card and e-sim over the last three years due to my work. The poor performance issues have slowly got worse. Even after a factory reset and slowly introducing only relevant apps back, the performance issues remain.
I have normally kept my phones for 4-5 years depending on battery performance and because of Fairphones business ethos I was really hoping the Fairphone 5 would last a lot longer than 3 years.
But unfortunately in practice the Fairphone 5 performance is pretty poor and customer service even worse.
As much as I wanted to keep using the phone I’m afraid I’m switching to a Google pixel 10a.
Interesting. I’m seeing non of the issues. Maybe I’m not using my phone as much as you, but my FP5 is also a bit over 3 years old by now.
Battery is still at about 92% capacity
No performance problems other than when the phone is at or below 10% battery. Then the phone just becomes super unresponsive. (While charging, it also feels a bit glitchy)
I had some wifi dropouts, with the “wifi quality is poor” warning a couple of months ago. But haven’t seen them recently.
I don’t use auto rotate, but sometimes manually switch between them and the phone never got stuck
For calls, the only thing I noticed, is that there sometimes is no audio going through for the first 2 seconds or so.
